About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Staying put without staying stagnant

ABOUT ME

Hi there
Joined this network some time ago. Did a lot of surfing in some amazing cities and met even more interesting people. Done a lot of cycling and backpacking, enjoy a drink and telling tales. But now I am going to be stuck in the Netherlands for a while, quite a change after 5 years on the road. so time to give back to CS, a community that has helped me lots over the years

PHILOSOPHY

Take a step back, take another look, and go forward without fear or hesitation. But at least know what you're getting yourself into.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

After surfing a lot it's time to give back a little bit. Spreading the word on travel opportunities in the Caribbean and on traveling by bike. You can surf my pull-out couch if you don't mind the fact that it's a one room apartment, so not that much privacy.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had so many cool couchsurf experiences in Canada and the USA, Trinidad, Guyana, Kazakhstan and Transdniestra. Stayed with lots of nice people, from small hamlets near Owen Sound to major cities like Boston and NYC. I've also used couchsurfing to get travel advice and hook up with other travelers.

Interests

I suppose, tall tales over cheap beers in dark bars. Good books while being totally out of place on that long distance greyhound bus. And getting completely lost in unfamiliar cities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of books, can't decide between kindle or paper. Non fiction mostly, politics or pop-science. This isn't easy travel reading, so quite often I will pick up fun light stuff like Nick Hornby, Richard Russo and even the occasional "chick novel", you know the ones with pink covers about heartbreaks ;)

Music is mostly late 90-ties early naughties. Although getting back into techno lately.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycle around the world, and being modest about it
