Overview
About Me
I'm Inuk (indigenous to the Canadian Arctic), and have a passion for helping others learn about my culture, while learning about theirs! As a recent high school graduate, I am taking a year off before pursuing my undergrad. Right now, I'm spending my time working for the Government of Nunavut and volunteering in my home town of Iqaluit. I plan on leaving home for a six month Europe trip after Christmas(!).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm couchsurfing along with my friend (who is also Canadian) because we're looking to immerse ourselves in the different European cultures as much as possible! We love meeting new people while travelling, having met each other while travelling just last year. I'm hoping to pick up a bit on some new languages, and hopefully teach my hosts a couple words of Inuktitut - the Inuit native language - as well. Couchsurfing seemed like the best platform for me to safely meet new people and make new friends on what will hopefully be the trip of a lifetime!

Music, Movies, and Books
Right now, my two favourite artists are Catfish and the Bottlemen and Hans Zimmer. My favourite movie is a tie between Les Miserables, Interstellar, and Good Will Hunting (anything over dramatic, really). And my favourite book is All the Light We Cannot See... but I'm such a bookworm that I love many others!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The coolest thing I've done was travelling Europe two summers ago. Unfortunately, I was only there for three weeks - and so I'm coming back for six months to experience more!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Hopefully a lot! I come from a pretty unique place - Nunavut covers 1/5 of Canada, but is home to only 36,000 people. As a result, most of the world doesn't know too much about my territory's history, culture, or language. But I hope to share as many stories and experiences as I can about my home, and maybe even host people here in the future!
