Overview
About Me
Recent graduate of University of California, Davis in Hydrology and studio art, and currently working for a research project that investigates the creation of wet meadow habitat for amphibians in the Sierra Nevadas. I love to read, ride horses, go running, and express myself through the creation of art (photography, ceramics, sculpture, and gardening or creation of space). Feel very passionate about the outdoors, and camp in the mountains the majority of the summer. Searching for a compassionate way of life and pursuing a vision of a more better world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm hoping to engage in a more meaningful and sustainable means of traveling. I am more interested in meeting locals and sharing food and conversation with people than seeing sights.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music-- Basically female (/folk) singers from the 60's-80's whose names begin with J: Joan Baez, Judee Sill, Joni Mitchell, Julie Andrews, and a bit of Judy Collins. But I also enjoy a good boogie, and listen to other stuff too, especially when I need an energy boost (like Flaming Lips, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Shakira, Tom Petty...thats just what comes to mind)
Movies-- All time fav is The Sound of Music (has been since I was 4) and Julie Andrews is my second mother! I like anything either funny or educational, but haven't watched too many movies.
Books-- I am interested in learning from different perspectives and about different times, places, and experiences. Recently, I've been intrigued by Asian authors and am currently reading "Paradise of the Blind" by Duong Thu Huong. Just finished/loved "The Gift of Rain" by Tan Twang Eng and "A Free Life" by Ha Jing as well as some books by Amy Tan. Always love reading Barbara Kingsolver, and am interested in her reoccurring themes of ecology and strong women. "Comfort reads" are James Herriot (love the descriptions of pastoral England and animal stories) and Anne of Green Gables (because Anne lives in a magical world, as we all do!).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I feel uncomfortable and don't really know what to say here
Teach, Learn, Share
I am interested in cultural exchange, and learning about how people cook/eat, stay healthy/take care of themselves, and cultivate spaces in which to live. I would love to practice speaking Spanish.
