About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make strange and beautiful things with strange and beautiful friends.

ABOUT ME

I love to make art and to use handmade things. When I'm not in the studio, you can find me on a long bike ride, or maybe hiking with my husband and our dog, or maybe dancing around the kitchen while cooking dinner for my friends... I like to garden, laugh, enjoy nature, and explore the world creatively.

PHILOSOPHY

being aware of the pleasure of the moment, being sensitive to my surroundings and those around me, taking only what I need

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Music, Movies, and Books

long, slow novels that must be unravled

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago, I was hiking in the Absaroka-Beartooth wilderness in Montana. Though I was tired and it was getting late, I pushed on above tree line, up one more steep rise to the Froze-To-Death Plateau. On top, the ground was strewn with ancient, lichen covered rocks and carpeted with tiny flowers of all colors- lovely, sweet, and delicate. I could see breath-taking mountain ranges and rugged valleys unfolding on both sides of the tiny strip of land I momentarily inhabited. The wind blew my hair in all directions, and then it mightily swept a huge cloud out of one valley and over the plateau. Almost immediately, I was immersed in a dense fog, which then delicately dispersed into thin, wispy phantoms. Just as suddenly, nothing remained but the blazing sun, the bluest sky, and perfect fluffy clouds just out of reach...
The absolute humility and joy of being there, running around in circles with my camera and my dog, tears in my eyes from the wind, in a place of measureless purity and beauty, was worth the fact that I had to run down the trail to make it back to town in time for pottery class.
