About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to travel in order to see differences in societies around the world, to break the notion of "normal"...and in the end to better understand myself

ABOUT ME

My name is Vadim. I had a normal paced life in Lithuania until I was almost 16. Then I moved to Canada, Toronto... then I lived in UK, London, then I traveled around in Europe, then I moved to Montreal, Canada, then I traveled more - South America. Overall became very much aware of cultures and differences around the world, and became more and more interested in international relations, social structure and the question of national identity.
I consider myself a cosmopolitan, with the "controlling 51% of the package" coming from Russian background. In general, really open minded and easy going,.. funny perhaps... friends say I leave a bad first impression :)

PHILOSOPHY

I deny the existence of "normal". I don't like when among people there is a barrier arising from stereotypes.
I don't like doing things half way through (or half a**) in all respects.
A lot of other things I'd share over a pint of good beer or a cup of tea

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Interests

1 when traveling - talking to interesting people, learning about their stories.
2 Partying - predrink with friends, bar, then bar with a dancefloor or a club, but very importantly with good music and good vibe; then - same several days in a row.
3 Reading classical literature

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Brothers Karamazov by Dostoyevsky, Hero of Our Time by Lermontov are probably my favourite but there are a lot of other books very good too.
Films (not movies): Basquiat is probably my favourite. There are a lot of other good films.
Music... whatever my friend DJ - Charlie plays. Modern disco :) I don't really have an ear for music

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

hard to say. a few things come to mind

Teach, Learn, Share

I could definitely help out with some math, even teach it at high school level. I have finished two years out of 4 in a Joint Honors Math and Physics program.
I don't knot what else I could teach.
I could learn more about people, to better understand differences in cultures.
I could share my stories...and perhaps my couch down the line.
