About Me

Hello! I'm Hortencia, an enthusiast of broad horizons and authentic experiences.
At 29 years old and with the pulsating dream of traveling around the world, I'm on an epic journey with my partner and our faithful companion, Tacna, exploring new destinations at every bend in the road.
We are currently heading to Turkey in our old car, soaking up the cultures, flavors and stories along the way.
Looking forward to sharing our adventures and meeting new people through Couchsurfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a traveler, I share the same philosophy of connecting with people and truly immersing myself in the essence of every place I visit. For me, it's not just about being a tourist, but rather being a traveler who seeks authentic and genuine experiences.

I fully understand the importance of getting to know a city through the eyes and tips of a local. This is what makes a trip truly memorable and enriching. After all, it's the locals who know the best places to eat, the hidden gems of the city, and the fascinating stories that aren't found in tourist guides.

Furthermore, the Couchsurfing platform not only enriches our travel experiences but also allows us to save considerably on accommodation. This enables us to explore more destinations, live authentic experiences, and truly connect with local communities.

I'm always on the lookout for opportunities to make new connections and learn more about different cultures. If you're willing to share a bit of your knowledge and local experience, I would be very grateful to meet you and make the most of my stay in your city.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a super eclectic person, and as a good Brazilian, I truly love music and the sensations it can give us, I love discovering new genres and styles but my favorite songs is Mpb, lofi, classic rock, chill, samba, funk, ragaetton (Latin music in general).
About books, it's not that I've read so many in my life, but some have really left their mark on me, such as: Women who run with the wolves, eat, pray and love and Oniska, poetics of shamanism in the Amazon.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2015, driven by the fervor to satisfy my intense desire to explore the corners of the world, I embarked on my first major adventure alone. Little did I know that moment would be the catalyst for maintaining that lifestyle full-time in the years to come.

It was six months of pure adventure and sharing. From São Paulo, through Argentina (from north to south), Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, and ending at the breathtaking Machu Picchu in Peru. In total, there were 56 rides with various means of transportation.

Reflecting on this journey deeply moves me, recalling vivid memories and how much I learned from the people I connected with along the way. But above all, I learned a great deal about myself both internally and externally. It was a journey of self-discovery, overcoming challenges, and forging deep connections with life and the people around me.

In 2019, I had a truly extraordinary experience alongside my boyfriend. We decided to cross the feared Paraguayan Chaco to the border with Bolivia, following the same legendary route traveled by Che Guevara. The journey was as challenging as it was enriching.

In the famous duty-free zone of Ciudad del Este, we bought a Chinese motorcycle in not-so-good condition, loaded it with almost 50 kilograms of luggage, and faced a series of obstacles along the way. From sleeping in the middle of the forest in a tent to improvising nights in the yards of those who welcomed us, we had to deal with the presence of crocodiles near our campsites and even faced an invasion of giant locusts in the region. But perhaps the most surreal moment was when we encountered an armed guerrilla who hadn't seen a human in front of him for three months. With open hearts, he welcomed us, and we shared space for a night.

Despite the challenges and unexpected situations, this adventure provided us with an incredible sense of freedom and connection with nature and the history of the region. It was a journey that challenged us both physically and mentally, but it also brought us immense gratitude for the opportunity to live such a unique and memorable experience. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ In 2023, we decided to transform our modest Ford Fiesta into a home on wheels to explore the European continent. This time, in addition to being together as a couple, we had a new travel companion: Tacna, our faithful four-legged companion.

For seven months, we traveled through Spain, sharing every moment within that small space that became our temporary home. We slept under a starry sky, cooked simple meals, and lived a simple and rewarding life in our converted car.

This journey taught us to value every small detail of life, to be flexible in the face of challenges, and to find joy in simple things. And most importantly, it strengthened our bond as a couple and solidified the special connection we have with our furry companion.

This camperized adventure was much more than a trip; it was an experience of personal growth, connection with nature, and shared love.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest, I always strive to positively contribute to the host's experience during my stay. In addition to sharing stories and pleasant moments together, I enjoy offering a taste of my culinary skills. I can prepare a delicious meal, whether it's a traditional dish from my region or an international delicacy, for us to enjoy together. Additionally, I'm a lover of good wines and would be delighted to bring a special bottle for us to savor during our evening conversations. I'm open to helping with household tasks, whether it's washing dishes after dinner or helping to keep the house tidy during my stay.
