About Me

Hello little travelers. Welcome to the most fun art project that has lasted 14 years now!

This season I am living in my huge RV in N. Scottsdale. I am at the base of many mountains and there are hiking and mountain bike trails right outside the door of my RV! Hooray!

My RV is big enough to host up to three people, plus me and my cat, Samantha. There is a bunk (like on a boat) where you can sleep, OR the table turns into a bed. OR you can set up a tent outside OR sleep in your car. Whatever works for you.

This is my fourteenth year hosting! Can you believe that?! What a very strange adventure this has been for me. I like to host during all trials of my life, as it creates a unique experience.

You, my couch surfer friends, you are my art project.

This year is more of an adventure year. I am spending the "season" here before heading off to the great Atlantic Canada!

A lot of really fun and interesting people have stayed with me over all these years.

Couch Surfing tries to sell you on the idea that you can "stay with a local," but this is so much more than that~~this site is just the door.

This is an ever changing community.

CURRENT MISSION :: To push this great social experiment forward into new ideas and new light.

ABOUT ME :: I am an entrepreneur. I think outside the box. I am not even sure that if I was in the box I would know what to do! I have built several successful business' over the years. I love to sail, hike, bike, run, cook yummy food and very much enjoy music.

PHILOSOPHY :: Don't follow

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The biggest reason I am on couch surfing :: Community. Often times there are many travelers here at my house. It is so great to meet everyone and hear all the travel stories. I love meeting people from other countries or states and introducing them to Seattle and surrounding areas.

I love sharing my home.

As you can tell I have done this a while, so my ideas about Couch Surfing change the more guests I have and experiences I get.

I have a few ideas of what makes a good visit here at my house.

These ideas are below.

The ideas have been crafted from past experiences to help make your experience wonderful and amazing. Amazing!!!!

1.) You have to be a traveler ———This means you are not "moving to the desert" and "just need a place to stay for a week or two." I can appreciate you are moving here, but what I want is to offer an experience for travelers.

2.) You have to want to actually meet me and hang out (if I have the time). The town has plenty of Airbnbs if you just need a place to stay. This is my place. I live here. All the time. If you show up, leave all day, get home late and never hang out then it won't be a good experience for either of us.

3.) New guests please come after 4pm on your first night.
.
4.) Contribute :: This can be with a nice bottle of wine, a good meal, some toilet paper or whatever. Get creative. The more creative the better!!

5.) Try not to eat Samantha's dry food. It is OK if this happens, but try to not to……You can have a few bites, but that is it. She is a growing kitty and needs her food.

Samantha's Rules :

1.) Please don't pick me up. I am a Norwegian Forest Cat. By nature I am social but independent. This means if I want to interact with you I will, but generally I will ignore you mostly......unless you have treats or the hair brush.....then maybe I will interact with you, but probably not.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE ::

EVERYTHING. When you open the doors to the world the world comes. And everything within that world. We are all different, yet we are ONE. As I said earlier several thousand people have come here so all life that you can imagine has been here and stayed a while.

Stay for yourself a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a strange history with Into the Wild. Some say that Chris McCandless and I share the same energy--that same blood. He is also the reason some of you come to my house. I am happy to share this story with you. If you ask.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bicycle 1600km in the California and Arizona desert in Winter of 2018

Sailed from Kauai to San Francisco in my Valiant 32' It took 31-days to come home :)

Rode my bicycle from Las Vegas to Kansas City to race in a 200-mile bicycle race called the Dirty Kanza.

Trekked in Nepal 300-miles or so.

Drove my Volkswagen Westy from Seattle to Mexico City and back

Took the ferry up the inside passage from Bellingham, Wa to Haines, AK then hitchhiked all around Alaska and lived out of a tent for 10-weeks.

Trekked over 300-miles in the North Eastern part of Nepal. The Kanchenjunga region. Walking. I walked.
