About Me

[We accept only a friend request with your message. Thank you! ]

Hi, nice to meet you, we are Shinya and Natsumi. We live in the third floor of a building named "HOUSEHOLD".We like cooking with seasonal and fresh foods from nearby areas, and preparing dishes the same way as local people in Himi. We hope to share the pleasure of cooking.

HOUSEHOLD is a seaside inn devoted to the pleasure of cooking.
Of course there are many restaurants and hotels in Himi where you can eat professional cuisine, but our hope is that you can experience preparing local style foods from fresh ingredients."
"Himi is a city in the northwest of Toyama. It's famous for its amazing port and fresh fish as well as it's bountiful countryside. HOUSEHOLD was renovated from an old building into a B&B Inn complete with communal kitchen and art gallery.

Here are some of the things you can enjoy at HOUSEHOLD

1. The pleasure of preparing meals from fresh ingredients.
There are 2 kitchens available for you to use, the 1F large shared kitchen and the 4F terrace mini kitchen. You can also enjoy a tour around local shopping areas and the fishing port. You will also have the opportunity to learn about local food industries straight from the source.

2. From the guest room and terrace you can enjoy a beautiful view of the sea and the Tateyama mountain range. Our building is located a 1 minute walk from the sea so you can explore Himi's beautiful seaside at your leisure. The rooftop terrace also offers a stunning panoramic viewing area; feel free to eat your food while admiring the scenery!

3. Various events at HOUSEHOLD kitchen and gallery.
We are planning various events, such as a ""chef in residence"" once every two months who will share their knowledge with guests. And at the gallery, we'll hold original exhibitions of local Himi life, as well as exhibitions by local craftspeople and artists.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We want to do "chef in residence".
"Chef in residence" is explained as below.
- We'll rent you our extra room for a few days and take you to local supermarket or shop for free.
- We want you to make dinner for us and our friend/the other guests during your stay. We hope that we can eat and know what you like in your country or home.

Notice:
・When you apply our chef in residence program, we ask you to see your cooking instagram or blog. But it's not the point whether you are professional or amateur.
・We want to shere the dinner to other people and talk with you. Let's exchange our culture!
・We pay cost (ex. ingredients) about 500 yen per 1 person for dinner.
