HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly, as a host to others. I like hosting bicycle tourists, because I travel that way every year. I would also be interested in trading lives (ha ha), which means I come to your country and live at your place for a while, and you come to my country and stay at my place for a while, with somebody from any Spanish speaking country. I would especially like to trade with somebody in Mexico City or anywhere in Spain. Columbia or Peru would be interesting too.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first solo international traveling was in the 1980s. The web did not exist yet, and you couldn't carry a computer or phone with you. I was often invited into people's homes in northern European countries.

The most amazing book(s) I have read are the stories of the Uruguayan rugby players who survived a plane crash in the Andes in 1972. In 2011, I had the amazing luck to meet Nando Parrado in an airport and talk to him for a few minutes.

I recently bicycled across the USA (2012) and I have criss-crossed Europe in several different directions, in several different decades of my life. I traveled around the world in 2011.
