About Me

ABOUT ME

My name is Howasta (pronounced How- is-tah if you may).

I am 25 year old taking a year off before I head to grad school for geology in Fall 2017. This gap year consist of environmental AmeriCorps seasonal jobs with National Parks and non-profits.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have only surfed couches in England and Greece(2012) and both were incredible experiences. They were the best times I had while traveling. I like making meaningful connections and I think CS is great for that since we are all like minded people.

Interests

I try to spend as much time with nature. I go camping at least once a month. I've done a large majority of the National Parks on the West Coast. I love traveling and I love adventures. I'll go where the wind takes me and not question it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge bookworm. Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Austen, Kafka, Camus, Coehlho, Salinger, Thoreau, Rowling.

Music- Bob Dylan, Beatles, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Belle & Sebastian, Keane, Beirut, Black Sabbath, Coeur De Pirate, Death Cab, Joanna Newsom, Rilo Kiley, Warpaint, WHY?, Beach House, Lord Huron, Alex G...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Filling up at a gas station for a beach trip, my friend dropped a penny on the way out of the store. It landed on heads. She went to pick up and I told her not, 'it'll make someones day'. We got only 10 feet away when we heard the store door bell ring indicating that someone left. We also heard an elder voice saying, ' Heads up, it's my lucky day' and an older lady picked it up and walked away smiling.

I also excavated a type specimen dinosaur - that was cool.
