CURRENT MISSION

Life is a fierce competition where you either win or lose. I love to travel. My two jobs don't allow for leaving very often or for very long.

I can get along with pretty much anyone. I believe people are good at heart. I'll probably do this until I get robbed. I can talk politics or provide feisty competition to beer pong.

I hope you have references or friends in your profile. Think about if you were hosting, and someone wasn't verified, hid their age, used a nickname/fake name/name abbreviation--would you let this person stay over? I usually look to see if you've hosted too, so that I'm helping those who've helped others. I get it though if you live with your parents or in a dorm. I do not host single night visitors because I do laundry, clean up and get to know you and if it's just one night, it's a bigger commitment on my end. Groups are great (less stress on me to entertain). Do not send same day requests (send me a message instead). If you somehow fall outside the bounds of what I've generally listed, you should explain so in your request.

The French, Dutch, and Swiss are always welcome at my place! Ok, I'll host from anywhere, but I've had amazing guests from those countries. No local Portlanders though, that's kind of weird.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although I loved my experience in Budapest, I really did not feel like I met any locals. I hung out with Brits, Aussies, Germans, and had a great time, but I lacked any real knowledge about the culture. I've met up with people now through couchsurfing especially when I've been alone, which has given me an invaluable experience into how people live day-to-day.

If I'm able to offer housing, but I often don't know in advance if I can show you around. If you want to do your own thing, perfectly fine with me. I have no problem just offering a room, bed or couch. I will generally invite you to tag along to whatever I'm doing, but you're welcome to explore on your own.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted about 50 times, gone to a couple CS events, and surfed a few times in Denmark and Japan.

Board games, puzzles, soccer, volleyball, video games.

If you have any skills in art, I've always wanted someone to paint something on this big wall in my house....just a thought.

I have a hard time sitting still for movies or books. I'm not saying I don't read, because I read for work quite a bit, but it takes a lot of determination for me to read something...I really have to want to read it. I'm just not very passive.

It's all been pretty amazing really. I consider myself very lucky. I love good food. France, Argentina and Thailand thoroughly filled my stomach. Netherlands gave me friends for life, and a couple of Parisians saved me on a weekend when everything was booked.

I'm always up for an adventure and good time. If you come to Portland I'll probably take you to VooDoo donuts, Ground Kontrol Arcade, Multnomah Falls, the Oregon Sign and a local grocery store. My favorite brewery is Hopworks, and they have great food and a play area for young kids.
