About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Finding a better work / life balance. :-) UPDATE: Moved departments - this one is pretty much achieved! :-)
ABOUT ME
I was born and raised in Hungary, spent most of my childhood in Nagykanizsa. I've spent several years in the capital - Budapest as well while studying. Moved to the UK in 2006 to broaden my horizons and get some new experiences. I am living in Coventry, West Midlands since, working and trying to travel as much as possible! I love traveling, if it would be free, you would never see me again!
PHILOSOPHY
"The answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything is 42."
- if you know what I mean ;-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Tho' registered ages ago, I am completely new to CS, and hope to start contributing to this idea and community. I am here for all... finding a couch on my travels, finding new friends, learning new things and discuss just about everything with new people.
Interests
First and most: travel. Just about everywhere and anywhere - exploring the world. I like reading, hiking, just started with some mountaineering and via ferrata. I love hiking, and being outside in general. I am also an aviation / space flight and military enthusiast. Somewhat interested in general, and more in geopolitics / foreign relations. Environment is very important to me, sustainability/environmental awareness is also something what I am interested in. I like to be around water/ sea, also have a skipper licence for boats up to 30 GT, what I can use in almost all mediterranean waters. I am going to get my Private Pilot Licence at some point in the future.
Music, Movies, and Books
Too much to list, honestly. I can be in a GnR gig one night, and go to a techno party the other. Movies? ... endless list, but let's put some here: Se7en, Butterly Effect, Snowpiercer, A most wanted man, Oblivion, A million ways to die in the West, Ted, Le Dernier trappeur, Looper, Les Chevaliers du ciel , Monty Python and the holy grail, Stardust, Hanna, Inside Job, Sunshine, 2001 SO, 2010, Inception, Dr. Strangelove, The Corporation, All Quiet on the Western Front, Dr. Zhivago, and many more.... I read mostly sci- fi, horror and military science, so: Asimov, Frank Herbert, Huxley, Stapledon, Tom Clancy, Stephen King, S Lem, H G Wells, A C Clarke, Haldeman
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've travelled up north over the polar circle, and hiked to Trerikroset - the three country cairn- where Norway, Sweden and Finland meets. This was an amazing trip and a great hike!
Add-on: Did the Trans- Mongolia / Trans- Siberia trip heading back from Beijing to Moscow - with an interruption at Lake Baikal, where we did a bit of a hike around the lake. Another amazing trip! :-)
Add- on nr. 2: I have done the Mt. Everest base camp trek with my good friend David, and had a great time in Nepal.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you some hungarian, some survival / mountaneering basics, a lot about flight and aeroplanes, history, space flight, and I am great at cooking! Sharing some great stories from my previous travels? I would love to learn more outdoors skills and further develop my mountaneering skills. Planning to re- engage with learning languages, bringing my German back to previous level and start to learn a new language as well.
