About Me

Hi I'm actually 24, I can't figure out how to change my DOB on here.

I prefer to be in love with whatever I'm doing, to learn something from everyone I meet, and to turn anything i can into an adventure.

I fell in love with New Orleans the first time I visited. Something about the jazz flowing through the patchy streets lined with colorful houses and mystical live oaks. I moved down here for college and stuck around because I'm still in love with it's magic.

I recently finished a 3 month backpacking trip in Thailand and Vietnam, and I feel like hosting couchsurfers will be a nice way to keep the travel spirit alive while I'm in town, keep life interesting, and build up some good karma for my next stint abroad. Also. I deeply love this city and it makes me happy to share in its magic with visitors. 2 of my jobs involve working with tourists for a reason.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I personally really enjoy sharing, and I also think the sharing economy is super rad. I made this profile awhile ago and never used it, but after experiencing such moving generosity from families in Vietnam, I'd like to continue living in that energy of traveling and hosting.

Ancient societies relied heavily on gypsies, messengers, and travelers for the expansion of their spheres of knowledge. I think traveling to hosts and hosting travelers has a similar effect, if more personal.

Interests

I have 4 jobs which keeps me way on my toes and nearly always entertained. I like to feel simultaneously productive and entertained. Outdoor adventures are my jam. I feel the most alive and grateful when I'm out breaking a sweat somewhere gorgeous. Recently I've fallen in love with scuba diving.

I also love ze arts. I sing a little jazz (tryna sing more), draw a bit, mostly think about painting. I write and try to read something every day. Experiencing art is soul food to me, especially music. I like to go out dancing for hours and hours.

I fundamentally love people. I like to understand why people are the way they are, and find things they see in the world that I don't. I like talking into the wee hours of the morning. I genuinely care about most people and try to put myself around those who do as well. I think it's working.

Also, I think laughter is like vitamins and smiling actually transforms the world around you.

I keep some daily practices in an effort toward mindfulness. The ones I'm keeping at a particular moment vary, but can include writing, meditation, yoga, and drinking coffee. Intentional mornings are important to me.

I like (biodegradable) glitter, red wine, good coffee, and epsom salt baths. I like people who can laugh at themselves and are willing to let you see a real piece of themselves.

Oh and I am very into dreams right now.

If you love Donald Trump, we probably won't get along. I feel and speak very strongly about women's bodily autonomy.

Books: One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, All About Love by bell hooks, and Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I dove with a whale shark in Koh Tao :O Absolutely. Fucking. Incredible. It was only a meter away at times.
