ABOUT ME

I grew up in a field of cows, and then the cows left, and the field was filled with tall grass for haying, and then the tall grass was cut to the ground and the field was filled with corn--long rows of corn that provided for terrifyingly exciting games of tag (followed by hose-downs on the porch in front of my house).

I have been a vegetarian since my time in the womb. My parents stopped eating meat in their 20s and (even though my brother claims to have watched me munch on a circle of pepperoni at age three) I can honestly say that, to this day, I have never consciously eaten meat. Right now I am appreciating the environmentalism that surrounds this lifestyle.

When I was little, if people asked me when my birthday was, i answered, "when the apples turn red." now it seems whimsical and sweet. At the time i thought it was practical.

I love cuttlefish-- all those chromatophores!

Movement is a part of my life. My mom likes to say that when i was in her tummy, I never stopped moving. She called me "Jumpy." I dance down the sidewalk, I tap my toes to city sounds, I twirl all the time.

i really, really like hot beverages. Teas, coffee, hot chocolate, you name it. Get me to a dimly lit, eclectic-looking, spot for drinks and i will sit and listen and chat and smell and taste and read and enjoy every second of it.

Leaving tiny notes for strangers to find excites me.

cooking also excites me. As an anthropology major with a focus on gender and feminist studies, part of me screams to play out that traditional role in the kitchen but i can't help it. I love making really rich dishes, combining spices (cumin and nutmeg are phenomenal together), using lavender in desserts (think molten chocolate cupcakes with raspberry lavender reduction, and maple whipped cream on top), and my go to green is baby arugula.

I love opportunities to adventure, fly kites, say "yum" and snuggle under a polar fleece blanket.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A few summers ago, my best friend, Mariska, and I traveled around Eastern Europe a bit and used CS to connect with some really outstanding people in Bratislava and Budapest. I have never hosted before because i haven't had a good place of my own to offer, but i certainly plan to enjoy that side of the couchsurfing experience after i'm out of college.

Teach, Learn, Share

when i was around two years old, my grandma passed away and i started going through a series of temper tantrums that involved screaming and kicking and crying and flushed, bright red cheeks. After one particularly bad bit, my mom asked me what she should do next time i was upset to calm me down. Apparently i looked up at her and said "just hug me."
