About Me

Howdy! My name is Jan (pronounced "yan") and I come from the Czech Republic, a tiny country in the heart of Europe, mostly famous for the historical capital of Prague and its beer culture.
For the past few years, I've been teaching Czech language in Japan and also working for a Japanese company in Tokyo. And without any exaggeration, I really love my job.
Apart from travelling, I fancy hanging out with friends, meeting new people, discovering new cafés and pubs (I'm a real beer and coffee freak!) and simply enjoying my life in many different ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I wanna meet new people I can share my stories with and spend a great time together! And since Couchsurfing gives us a wonderful opportunity to do so, why should we miss it out?

Music, Movies, and Books

Since I'm a music freak and it would be a shame to name just a few artists, here you can look at my music list: https://www.last.fm/user/Hromino/library/artists?date_preset=LAST_365_DAYS
Be aware that if you start talking with me about music, I can continue to chat with you for ages!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting all 47 prefectures in Japan!

Teach, Learn, Share

When it comes to travelling, I love finding magic in hidden places, visiting interesting sights that only locals know about, hearing urban legends and so on.
Famous places, crowded with dozens of tourists, are nothing I would particularly long for; I would rather love to hear interesting stories about your neighbourhood and visit the places that YOU like to visit!
Even if it's just a rural part of a country or a normal part of a big city, there is always some quirk in visiting a local place with a local!

Also, as a person living in a country with completely different cultural background, I am always eager to have some talks about each other’s culture. Since I realize how much can a culture mean to people, I love to hear about your relation to your culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Since I'm an open-hearted person, you can ask me anything you'd like to hear or know about me, my country or life in Japan by all means! (Except the number of my credit card and similar, haha.)

As a Czech language teacher working abroad, I can particularly tell you a lot about my culture. Don't hesitate to ask anything.
