Overview
About Me
I'm clean and respectful, first and foremost, and love to have conversations with people about all kinds of topics. Meeting people from different backgrounds than me and experiencing new things is what I love most. I grew up in a pretty small town in Mississippi, but after graduating from Ole Miss I decided I needed to get out and see the world so I went to New Zealand and lived there for about 8 months, then traveled to SE Asia for a bit and back to the US, only to stay for a few months. I started teaching in Spain in 2013, and I'm now teaching in Madrid again for another little while!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
As I said, meeting new and interesting people is what really gets me going, and I've heard Couchsurfing is a great way to do this. I have actually hosted Couchsurfers before, but not officially; just had to do it because one of my friends couldn't and I didn't want to leave those kids out to dry. I found it was a pretty cool experience, so I figured, why not give it a try on the other side.
Interests
I'm really into reading and writing and am currently working on my second novel. No, the first one's not published yet, but we're still hoping. Other than that, exploring, trying to speak Spanish, hiking, doing stand-up comedy and skiing are the other things I really like to do. Having a nice cup of tea is pretty high on the list too, as well as meeting friends for a beer at a pub.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Tool, King Crimson, Buddy Rich, Bossa Nova, Zoe Keating, Bach, Adam Carroll and pretty much anything else that I can get my groove on to.
Movies: Psyche thrillers usually top my list, but I really like some from the 50's and 60's too (Some Like It Hot, Odd Couple...). As well as Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction and the odd Rom Com. I'm never going to say no to Love Actually.
Books: Blood Meridian, Infinite Jest, Twilight of the IdolsCrying of Lot 49, Song of Ice and Fire, anything Author Conan Doyle wrote, La Nausea, The Road, Moby Dick... Too many. I can love to talk books aaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllll day.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Build a house in New Zealand after getting hooked up with a contractor near the place I was living. Thinking about that place still standing there in that beautiful setting makes me happy. Pretty cool to know that someone lives there and that one day I could go back and see it.
Teach, Learn, Share
You can practice your Spanish with me or I can speak English to you! I also like to cook so maybe, with the right ingredients, we can whip up some magic.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Plenty of discussion of just about anything. I can play the guitar and sing, rap or compose a poem. I'm from Mississippi so if you want me to do impressions of any of those rednecks you've seen on TV or in movies, it'll only take 2 beers and you'll feel like you're floatin' down the Miss'sippi with a good ole boy.
