PHILOSOPHY

Take it easy, unless a situation offers some action. Redefining and solving (the correct) problems. Sometimes I still think too much and things get more complicated than they actually are. But, then again, the world is more complex than people are willing to accept. I also don't smoke nor use any psychoactive substances including alcohol, but am still superficially liberal about them. I'm not a vegetarian.

For a couple of years, I have not been active on CS. But in general, I socialize and introduce Helsinki . PS. Please do not vouch (for the third time) as I don't like to make that kind of decisions about other people.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC, current favourites http://soundcloud.com/hasselhoffer . Usually music with at least some electronic instruments, and played by DJs'. Currently, tech house and nu disco inspire me the most.

I hardly listen to rock'n'roll. But I like people who do. I enjoy mainly electronica from acid, techno, and house to minimalist stuff. Disco, funk etc. including the old ones and newer more electronic stuff. Old and mid-school hiphop, some newer also. Finnish hiphop. Fifties rock'n'roll. ZZ-Top and Kari Peitsamo ;) New urban Finnish dance music is closest to my heart.

MOVIES. Directors: Kaurismäki, Kubrick, Almondovar etc. just to name a few. I haven't been going to the movies that much nowadays. By the time of publication following (action) movies have been my all time favorites respectively: [an excellent japaneze which name I forgot], Inception, The Matrix, Splice, Vendetta, Terminator II, Fight Club, Avatar, IronSky, and In the Line of Fire.

Usually anything with mind-fucking on multiple levels is the best.

On the action side I have before liked a lot those ones with a clever and intelligent bad guys (e.g. In the Line of Fire, Speed, Die Hard [oh, it's long time ago]), or characters with strong personal objectives (e.g. The Negotiator, The Enemy of the State, The Fugitive, ...).

BOOKS. I've always felt guilty not reading that many books. Absurdiztan had great energy but I didn't finish it. The Hotel New Hampshire (in Finnish) by John Irvin was great. I also like novels by Anton Chekhov. And then some by the Finnish authors like Lampaansyöjät (Lamb eaters) by Veikko Huovinen.
