About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn new skills and to be more spiritual
ABOUT ME
Married 38 years this year 2025 and together for 40 years last November... (so two anniversary celebrations)
My Overall Description
I am a sincere and honest person and I dislike liars and time-wasters.
I was raised in the country , but I chose to be independent and moved to the city when I was sixteen.
I love the simple things in life as well as the luxuries. I like walks on beaches, sunsets/rises, water/snowball/pillow fights. jumping in puddles and dancing in the rain. and I love spontaneity and excitement.
I have experienced the finer things as well and I love opera, Theatre, museums (I worked in a museum for 4 years) Art galleries, Concerts
My Personality:
Wild, free, playful and a bit risque, but grounded when I need to be, intelligent with sense of humour. Honest, will speak my mind freely, tell it as it is, and have manners (in most circumstances anyway) I feel that if someone makes the effort then they REALLY want to know more about the real me. I will return the gesture.
My political views:
Most politicians fight over who is right and who is wrong, when all they should be doing is concentrating on their job (whoever is in power) and making their country (world) a better place for everyone. So I don't really care much for any of them....... I could probably do a better job. Oh and I don't give a dam what they are doing in their private lives either, what on earth does it matter, if they ARE doing their job..... People are so sad when they are fascinated by other people's PRIVATE lives.
My spiritual beliefs:
ASK ME. It's wonderful and non restrictive.
My Life Goals:
To be the best human being I can be. what more can anyone be, or want to be? I would LOVE to do more volunteer work in South America. Contact me and find out more........ if you want to that is :-) After that I plan to be as self sufficient as I possibly can, plant my own food and have some livestock, i want to travel and learn as many 'life skills' as possible
PHILOSOPHY
favorite quotes.
There's always good with the bad...
you gotta love your life the way it is...
Remember those who love you...
FORGIVE those who hurt you...
and never regret anything that made you smile
Minds are like parachutes, they only work when they are OPEN
Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that" -Martin Luther King, Jr
whatever you believe in, there's always someone who will disagree with you.....
Lifes a witch and then you fly...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My hubby and I really like to get immersed in local culture, we don't want to be tourists but instead, meet local people and get to know the culture of that place and to be a part of that. This won't happen if we just stay in a hotel and go on paid tours. The best way is to actually stay with someone local who will enjoy sharing stories and company with people from other countries.
If I ask for a couch (that's not often)
**we WILL respect your home and your rules and help with the washing up and not use up all your hot water. we will stay clean and not smelly with flannel washes and we won't eat all your food, we will bring our own) We hope that you will enjoy our company with the stories we can share.
I will cook a very nice British dish called shepherd's or cottage pie. If you are vegetarian or vegan I can alter the ingredients to be appropriate.
Both my hubby and I can share stories from our lives and the travels we have done.
Visitors to London
I will take anyone visiting London around and show them Greenwich, or central London areas that are off the beaten track. The history, like where the great fire of London started, or where to stand east and west at the same time without having to pay for it. where to eat nice and cheaply.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
ICELAND AND EGYPT
We have been lucky enough to have been hosted by a lovely man in Iceland (he no longer hosts sadly) and a wonderful man in Egypt i am so glad they did host us as we gained more than we ever could by just staying in a hotel. there were stories and cultural exchanges. We loved meeting those people and they also helped us to know where to go and what to see that we would never have managed without their help. we have many happy memories of both of our hosts, Who we are still in touch with.
I have met some lovely people socialising on the group focallocal, on couchsurfing groups and there are so many different kinds of fun things to do.
Interests
Anything spontaneous and unplanned is fun. I love to dance and express myself. To be able to be 'silly' sometimes and do things that adults 'forget' to do for fun.
*Camping in the open, being around a very LARGE fire singing and telling stories with good friends.
*Horse riding, I love the freedom of galloping, feeling the wind on my skin and the trust between myself and that of a powerful beautiful beast
* Dancing like nobody can see me,
* Singing like nobody can hear,
* Walks in woods,
* Dancing in the rain/thunderstorms,
* Going on the swings and slides in the park after dark.
*Looking up at the stars in wonderment.
* Feeling sand between my toes and wiggling them
*Making snow angels and having snow ball fights
*Wild swimming, love to see the sky and fish and trees while I swim.
I love to learn about new cultures and working in a museum was a fantastic opportunity for me to do that.
My Favorite Places:
Any neolithic sites, or ancient spiritual sites, historical buildings, museums/art galleries the countryside/forests, waterfalls, Wales, Scotland and South America.
My favourite city: is Paris. It's so cultural and chic oh and now Venice. Been twice to the carnival, it's amazing, but the city itself is so lovely and unchanged by modern life.
we have not long visited Luxor it was also an amazing experience to see such an ancient culture that still exists today.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love books, I have a very large library, but sadly I am dyslexic. I learn by listening and watching. I can read but it is hard work...... told you I was honest. This does not mean I am unintelligent, I have gained much knowledge from visiting museums, art galleries, natural places of interest, listening to recitals and operas (and feeling the emotions that come with it) and going out of my way to teach my children and to learn with them. and not just maths, English, history and science, but also the wonderments and mysteries of this world.
My favourite books are probably Terry Pratchetts discworld, the death trilogy, The Watch, and the Rincewind series, I listen to audiobooks. but I also like Agatha Christie and also the modern antiquarian, it is an excellent guide to ancient sites.
MOVIES:
The Celestine Prophecy, the emerald forest, the green mile, and French Kiss
MUSIC
very eclectic, but I really enjoy live acoustic, I know many talented musicians.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My Greatest Accomplishment:
1) My children are well-educated and independent young women, who had the upbringing I did not, I used my failings in life to be a better parent/person to teach my children from my mistakes. In the end, good comes from bad experiences. I turned it all around for the better and I am proud of that.
2) The volunteer work I have done.I am proud to have helped people less fortunate than myself In Pisco, Peru (PSF) and it taught me so many new values. I have also helped disadvantaged Inner London children (C.C.H.F), and done some work with endangered turtles in Greece. Also every Christmas I volunteer with my husband, all day serving Christmas dinner to 500 people who are disabled, lonely, and elderly. mentally ill or homeless
3) Also against all odds being an individual, teaching my daughters the same values. Coming up against all kinds of prejudice. Sadly people are afraid of anyone who chooses to be 'different' and become irrational and sometimes very dangerous and hurtful. I am proud to say that myself, my husband and our children are all open-minded and individual without any prejudices against others.
4) finally educating myself, I left home virtually illiterate.... it was hard, but I did it, with determination, anyone can achieve anything.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach
* English
* How to cook a simple toad in the hole
* How to cook a cottage pie/shepherds pie (Adjust ingredients for veg/vegans)
* How cider vinegar is made
Learn
I love all different cultures but I would like to learn some new languages (basics)
Share
*Stories of our lives and there are some good ones, you will enjoy hearing
*good food (I hope)
*good laughs
if you come to London I will be a good guide for you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of stories about volunteer work in Peru and Greece. Tales about both our lives (my husband is 72, so lots of tales to tell).
I can cook a Shepherd/Cottage pie or a Toad in the hole for any host who is kind enough to let us stay. I can alter ingredients for vegetarians /vegans I can also share how to make cider vinegar if you like and I know a little about herbs.
I can't host I am afraid, I have no room to share but If any couch surfers choose to come to London I am a free guide who knows lots of little-known places. I am sorry I can't host, I have no room spare to share.
