About Me

I recently graduated from Oxford University and am having a year out to travel and see the world before starting work in September.

I am really keen to meet new people and enjoy chatting to others from different backgrounds.

Here's my Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/helloandwelcometomytimeline

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing because I thought the best way to see a place is to meet the local people. I think couchsurfing provides a fantastic opportunity to meet a wide range of interesting people and learn about their lives. I hope through couchsurfing to get a more real experience of places I am visiting. In turn, when I am back in London and start work (in September), I hope to host people and show them what London is really like.

Furthermore, I love the idea of a community of people helping each other out by providing each other accommodation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music

Books
Steinbeck - East of Eden
Susan Abulahawa - Mornings in Jenin
Nabokov - Lolita

Movies
Midnight Express
Short Term 12
Four Weddings and a Funeral

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've volunteered for 3 months in Kenya helping entrepreneurs set up and expand their businesses whilst living with a Kenyan host family. On this programme, I also organised events to help the community (e.g. we fed over 60 street children, carried out workshops to help other entrepreneurs). The best thing I did was organize a flash mob, dance and speech to help promote HIV awareness in the centre of the city we were working in (Eldoret). A crowd of around 1,000 people watched the event and it got covered by Kenyan TV and radio stations (I had to do a press conference after the event which was a bit alarming!).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach/play lots of different sports such as field hockey, tennis and squash.
Similarly, I can teach/share with you some of my knowledge about Philosophy and my particular area of interest which is philosophy of religion and more specifically thinking about evil and God.
I'd love to learn more about different people's experiences and views on life in order to try to broaden my perspectives.
I can share lots of stories about my weird and wonderful experiences travelling - from hitchhiking from Albania to Macedonia to exposing a corrupt employee at a TV station.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Happy to cook a thank you dinner! And love to talk and hear/share stories/go out.
