About Me

CURRENT MISSION

In search of quality

ABOUT ME

I am not long returned from a long period of travelling, which I guess you could describe as a career break, or walkabout. The experience was transformative for me, and although I'm back working now and fairly career-focused, I am a man renewed.

PHILOSOPHY

Fall in love, save the world, or die trying. Even one out of three would make for a life worth living, maybe worth living twice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have loved being part of the travelling community abroad, and have been looking forward to doing some hosting when I have my own place. Now I do, and now I can!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have mainly couchsurfed in the US and Mexico, and am starting to do some hosting myself. Had some amazing experiences with some truly generous and wonderful people. It has all made me want to give back to the travel community.

Interests

Music and travel and two of my favourite things, and I have a real soft spot for B-grade 80s movies and horror.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: too many to list, but let´s start with Nick Cave, Doves, Elbow, Yeah yeah yeahs, Arcade Fire, The Kills, Beach House, BRMC, Mogwai, Clap your hands say yeah, Blur, Radiohead, Tom Waits, Cloud Control, Grouplove, Pulp, Supertramp...
Books: Have very recently been inspired by Mountains Beyond Mountains, and love love love On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
Movies: Haven't seen many recently because I've been travelling, but before I left home I thought Machete was awesome, and Evil Dead III: Army of Darkness is an absolute classic. Also: Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, Up (makes me want to go to Venezuela!), Elizabeth, Memento, Robocop, Kick Ass, Lost in Translation, Napoleon Dynamite, Scott Pilgrim vs the world,...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood in front of the statue of David
Soaked up the magic of Iguazu Falls
Rode my $150 bicycle from San Francisco, USA, to Guadalajara, Mexico.
Watched fish frolic in phosphorescent water while sailing in the Sea of Cortez

I´ve seen stars beyond trees and mountains beyond mountains
