About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Change lives

ABOUT ME

I love exploring cities, meeting new people, hanging out in public spaces, and walking everywhere. If there are galleries and museums, I'm down. If there's a band playing tonight, I'm in. I want to know what is special about your city, what people do for fun in these parts.I'm pretty sensible, friendly, and fun. I'm down for adventures, debates, finding out what's over there, and I've been told I make a good guest.

PHILOSOPHY

Perfection belongs to narrated events, not to those we live.-Primo LeviNever ascribe to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.-Napoleon BonaparteWhile these may seem negative, what I take from them is that things will go wrong, but our character shows in how we choose to react to them. If everything goes according to plan it will only be as good as you can imagine.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed my way from San Francisco to Chicago, hosted a pair for a week or two, and look forward to getting involved again when I'm able to host again, and travelling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Kyaking, live music, learning the rules of american football, deli treats, dancing, new friends, sad partings and Balderdash are all part of the deal. It is a good one.

Interests

Bike rides, telling and listening to stories, art history, conversations, quality movies, how the rest of the world lives, pie night and potlucks, natural history, live music, places I don't know, factoids, late-night swimming expeditions, geography, learning, reading, dancing, adventures and fun times.

Bob Dylan, Arcade Fire, Fuck Buttons, Kitty Pryde, Why?, The National, Tom Waits, Twin Shadow, Paul Simon

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Hall of Maps in the Vatican - it's amazing to think about how important and closely-kept that knowledge was back in the day given how available it is now, as well as the narratives and artistic skill contained within those maps.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little about a lot. If you'd like to know about early 20th century western art, I can help. I can wax lyrical about the beard of christ, but try not to. I can provide a plausible (if not correct) explanation for most things, and whatever people have to teach, I'm willing to learn. I'm currently undertaking a Masters of Urban Planning, which seems like the most efficient way to increase the sum total of human happiness.

Countries I’ve Visited
