About Me
Hello
First I live on the island of MARIE GALANTE, small island next to Guadeloupe (I don’t live in Grande Terre as the websites says), 1 hour ferry trip from Bergevin in Pointe à Pitre, around 35 euros (I can get it for 20 euros if we plan in advance), take this into account before asking me for accommodation please.
I settled on the island of Marie Galante in January 2015. I am really enjoying my life here, the weather is sunny and warm all year long (or almost), Marie Galante has one of the most beautiful beaches and cleaves of Guadeloupe, it is never busy as Guadeloupe, no traffic. It was a big change for me as I grew up next to Paris. In my everyday life, I like surfing, kite surfing, beach or pool barbecues with friends, concerts, listening to music everytime at home, sometimes slackline or reading. In Europe I used to go a lot to music festivals. I am quite hyperactive and I enjoy any outdoor activities. There are also nice hikes in Marie Galante that I know well, I go walking sometimes 1 hour, sometimes 6 hours, depending of my mood. I also enjoy playing to board games or card games.
My home is in a really nice and quiet countryside, like the perfect place for yoga or meditation...
I have two cats :)
Usually I agree for 2 nights, 1 or 2 people, for more people or more time please ask in advance.
The past year I have had a lot of couchsurfers, I am really enjoying it, I have met very interesting people and I intend to continue. From these experiences I just want to explain a few “rules” so that couchsurfing remains a pleasure for you and for me.
BE CLEAN AND INDEPENDENT As long as you respect the place, you can use my kitchen and my bathroom whether I am here or not, same for going in and out, do shopping… I have my everyday job, my hobbies… so I don’t always have time to go out with you.
I AM NOT A TAXI : Marie Galante is a small island, but still distance can be quite long, for example it takes me 20 minutes driving from home to the harbor, it makes it a 45 minutes drive to pick you up at the boat and bring you back home, I am hosting more and more people I just don’t have time to do that. So you can rent a car or a scooter. Hitchhiking works quite well (easier during high touristic season and not after sunset). With a car you will more enjoy Marie Galante, you will be able to go everywhere, hitchhiking is more for main roads. And I live in the countryside, really nice and quiet place, but I am far for everything, you won’t find anything walking. If you rent a scooter please make sure you will be able to carry your stuff with you, I won’t do it for you.
FILL YOUR PROFILE AND READ MINE : it happened to me to host people I don’t have much in common with, it can be boring and I don’t like to host people if I don’t know anything about them… Couchsurfing is about sharing, not just giving accommodation…
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like to meet people who travel to share our experiences and projects of future travels ( I intend to travel more to Asia and South America and visit New York). It is also a way for me to meet people from outside Marie Galante, sometimes it is a bit to small here...
Usually I always spend the end of the day with my couchsurfers, we have a drink, dinner together and get to know each other. Of course I give you the best information about what to do in Marie Galante. And if I have time we will do something cool together but I can’t promise this.
