About Me

I'm Hugo, I just finished my high school in july and got by baccalaureate with mention. I currently live in London. Frennch born and bread, I always lived in Ile-de-France, near Paris until September 2015.
I took a gap year to travel, discover a part (at least) of the world and to discover myself: how I am living alone abroad, feeling my own freedom.... And it will also be a mean to accurate my course choice.

I think I'm quite a calm guy and, according to what my friends say, funny... I often joke and I like laughing quite a lot too. I'm a really optimstic guy, so you won't see me depressed nor angry, when there is something bad or even sad, I always try to put things into perspective and think that it could be worse.
I like to move and discover as I like to spend time to think, read, and enjoy the present moment.
I don't fear loneliness, and I like somtimes privacy but I can live without !

The language I master most is french because it's my native language, but I can discuss quire a lot of topics in English and Spanish fluently. I really love to learn languages. I have some basics of Italian as I started to learn it when I went in Italy, but I forgot a little since, and I am only able to understand a little. I'd like to start learning German, Arabic, Chinese and maybe Russian... and the only problem is that I don't know by where to start.... haha
I really hope and I would be really pleased that couchsurfing would be a way to learn about the languages of the country I will visit

I think I'm really open minded, I like discussing and even arguing about nearly all subjects, but I do respect the freedom of everyone to have its own point of vew or ideas. Respect is the basis on which we can share :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing to have the possibility to meet people of the country I'm visiting, learn about their way of life, the particularity of their cultures, and discuss about what they think of their own country. Of course I would be pleased to do the same for mine !

There is also the fact that I want to travel in order to live really in the country I go. The idea of "only visiting" repulses me. Going abroad without living like a inhabitant would be missing the most rich and the most interesting part of the trip, to my mind.
In the same idea, I don't want to see only touristic monuments or itineraries. I will only do the one which seem interesting to me or the one which would be adviced me by my hosts or the inhabitants I meet.

Interests

I'm a curious person, eager to discover other cultures, places (cities as countrysides), and meet people from a different cultural background. I'm really interested in politics, history, geopolitics and philosophy. I do love sports, especially martial arts. I practiced them for 10 years, mainly chinese wrestling, chinese boxing and Tai-Chi.
