About Me

I'm a Brazilian who lived in US for 1 year as an exchange student in Arkansas. Also lived in California for 3 months as an intern in a Brazilian technology company located in the Silicon Valley. I grew up in a countryside Brazilian city and now i go to school in a different city, and hope to graduate in the end of next year as a Computer Science Bachelor.
When I lived in US, I met tons of Koreans and really liked the culture, the language, etc. Made several korean friends and I just decided to go on July during summer break to visit Korea. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing cuz I heard a lot about it, few friends have used and recommended it.
Also, I used Airbnb quite a few times when travelling inside the US, here is my profile there https://www.airbnb.com.br/users/show/18753811
In case you want to see, there are a few reviews there from my past trips.
So, during my trips, I sometimes checked in hostels and found out how awesome it is to be in the same place as other travelers and get to know people and their adventures, experiences, etc. I fell in love with the multiculturalism one can experience when spending time with people from all around the globe. And I really wish that with Couchsurfing I'd be able to experience similar things again.

Interests

I'm a computer science student, therefore I'm really interested in technology, games, mobile devices and services, etc. Although my major doesn't require me to, I love learning about history and sociology, and talking about it as well. My favorite hobby in the past 2 years is studying Korean! It has been so fun to start understanding Hangul and being able to communicate with Korean friends, I get motivated to study only from seeing how different and interesting language the Korean language is!

I also LOVE soccer! We can spend hours talking about it if you want. I'm pretty interested in American Football as well, though I don't really watch much of NFL, I prefer watching the College League (GO HOGS!)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love classic Rock: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Beatles are my top 3 favorite bands ever. Although I like listening to other pop and recent bands as well, whenever I listen to classic rock, it shakes me, it is totally my style! haha.

I was much more into Movies a few years ago. Nowadays I don't really watch that many movies. The ones that I like the best are Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption. Pretty cliché, i know ><
I'm not used to read books.. I used to read way more when I was a teenager, but I lost the habit of doing so. I know this is wrong, but ... :/ It just happened this way. Maybe you can make me go back to the state of being a 'books-lover-kind-of-person' after a nice conversation about the last one you read?!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I consider amazing the fact that I started to learn Korean from scratch "just because" i felt like learning.
I also consider amazing that I had the opportunity of working at and experience the Silicon Valley myself, after hearing/reading/watching so much about it! It was such a pleasurable experience, definitely the best period of my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

I definitely LOVE learning and teaching languages! I helped many friends learning English throughout my adolescence. But what really captivated me was after I started learning a bit of korean, understanding more and more about different languages and how they work, I got to meet people from all around the world and would always ask them about their language, alphabet, and try to know more about someone by learning the basic and the structure of their language. I believe your mother language can tell a lot about you whenever you are using English. Each country/language has some specific ways of translating specific words into English that not always will make the listener understand what you want to say, since each language has its peculiarities. I definitely love talking about this, and I love to share my few knowledge with people around me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share some good quality time with laughters, stories being told, we can talk a lot about my country's culture: soccer, beaches, samba. I love sharing my culture to people and get to know theirs. Also if you like new technology trends, I'd love to spend some time talking about it with you.
