👤 My name is Hugo, I’m from France and I’m 21. I live in the North East of my country. I grew up in a small village in the countryside where I know everybody and now, I’m studying business in a big city called Nancy for 4 years.

I’m passionate about travel and aviation and I’m also fond of skiing, amusement parks or photography ! I love meet new people, I’m sociable, open-minded, positive and during my spare time, I like to learn new things.

I'm not very athletic but I went swimming in a club for a long time, I play golf from time to time with my father and I'm going skiing every winter. For all the other sports, I prefer to watch them on TV with a good slice of pizza rather than practice it :)

🌍 And why not ? Hospitality is an ancestral principle and I like the idea that it continues thanks to the internet. I like the exchanges between humans from different backgrounds so couchsurfing and its large community seems to be the right place for this. We have so much to learn by talking with others !

When I travel, I don’t need to bring back tons of objects that will gather dust once back home but I just want beautiful memories. If I had the choice between staying in a wonderful resort or in a hostel full of backpackers, I would choose the second option because the first one would be too boring for me.

I also think that one of the best way to discover a city or a country is the contact with the locals. When I visit a city, I like to see the famous places but also the unknown addresses where the heart of the city beats. So it's always good to know locals who will take you to these places.

Música, películas y libros

🎹 I like all kinds of music, in different languages, from old classics to young artists but my favorite type of music is pop, rock and French variety. My favorite concert was Coldplay : they are one of my favorite bands and this concert was so much more than listening to music ! I like to go to the Opera from time to time : the last musical works I saw were the Piano Concerto No.1 by Tchaikovsky and Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique. I also like to sing and transform my little flat into a concert hall when I'm alone, even if I sing out of tune, it's just a way to express my good mood :)

🎬 My favorite film is a French romantic comedy film called Amelie because I love the fantasist story and the soundtrack. My favorite TV show is probably The Simpsons, I like it because I've been watching it since I was young and I realized over time that behind the humor, there was a funny and satirical depiction of the American society.

📖 I don’t have any favorite types of books but I like readings that make me learn more about the current world. My last readings were about the Solar Impulse adventure, the 9/11 attacks and the FARCS hostages in Colombia. I also love to read some aviation magazines where I can find the latest aviation industry news and my favorite comics is the Belgian comic strip called Le Chat.

🌍 I did a lot of amazing things like paragliding, snorkeling with turtles and blacktip reef sharks, diving in the Caribbean or a night trek on a volcano but my best experiences are definitely my first trips as a solo backpacker, my experience as a volunteer in an Indonesian school and my immersion experiences in English-speaking families in the UK, the US and Canada to improve my English when I was younger.

Despite the amazing things I’ve done, I especially like the simple pleasures of life like eating pastries (lemon meringue tarts, cheesecakes and macaroons are my guilty pleasure), go out with my friends to drink a hot chocolate with cream at the Place Stan (the beautiful and iconic square of my city) while discussing about anything and everything or have a walk in the forest next to my house just to enjoy the silence and the beauty of nature.

💬 I'll be happy to teach some basics of French to whoever wants to learn this language. I can also teach you how to solve the Rubik's cube ! I love doing it when I'm bored since a friend taught me a few months ago :)

I'll be pleased to learn a few words in your native language, learn about the way of life in your country or discover new things about your favorites topics and your passions. I’m very curious and eager to learn more about the world that surrounds me. I’ll also be happy to get some advices about photography because I like it but I’m not very experienced.
