My name is Hugo Ortega. I'm 23 years old and ready to see the world. I grew up in the USA (NYC and Orlando), but frequently traveled between the Dominican Republic and Honduras (heritage). In 2014 I had my first trip to SE Asia and loved it. I'm eager to see the rest of the world (and return to SE Asia as well). I believe life is short and we have to make the best of our time here. I plan to do that by opening my eyes to as much as you and anyone across my travels is willing to offer. And if I'm lucky, I'll be able to share a lot with you as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here to connect with others worldwide and broaden my horizons. There is no better way to explore a location than with the assistance of locals so I'm hoping to gain valuable insight/advice when traversing new areas but also making new friendships wherever I go.

Interests

One of my largest interests is traveling. I am anxious to see as much of the world as I can and get to experience different cultures worldwide. In addition, I'm an avid reader, I love to write, watch sports, exercise, and keep myself occupied in whatever way I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love 80s music. It's my guilty pleasure! Pop, Rock, Grunge, all of it! I'm also a big fan of electronic music, such as Daft Punk. I'll give anything a listen at least once.

Movies are some of my favorite ways to destress. I'm an avid fan of Back to the Future, Star Wars, The Princess Bride, Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson films, and many others.

I'm an avid reader of the Song of Ice and Fire books, Wheel of Time series, and classic's such as 1984, Dracula, Wuthering Heights, Sherlock Holmes stories, and countless others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Dec. 2014 I went backpacking in SE Asia for 3 weeks with some friends. We rented motorbikes in Cambodia and drove to Siam Reap before dawn to watch the sunrise from the main monument. It was breathtaking.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my experiences both inside the USA and abroad. I love to talk and meet new people so hopefully we can have an exchange on an intellectual or casual basis (whichever you prefer) and continue to expand/broaden our perspectives regarding the world.
