About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Try to take over the world!

ABOUT ME

I love travelling. I have this strange idea that I cannot leave out a single corner of this world in my travel plans. If it depended on me, I'd spend the better part of my life travelling... but I can't, so I try to make the best of my routine time.
I try to learn everything I can from everyday life. I talk (a lot) to people as much as I can. I have fun, I enjoy my life: could I ask for more?

PHILOSOPHY

A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step - Laozi

I love home, but I need to travel. I wondered how that was possible, then I realized home is everywhere you want to find it. And it's by getting out and looking at Home from a distance that you really get to enjoy it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like the CS project: it makes the world smaller, and easily accessible by everyone.

And I find it quite telling that anybody who ever warned me against staying at a strangers' house or hosting strangers never even tried couchsurfing.
Only great experiences to be had!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The first time I heard about couchsurfing I thought it was a really good idea to travel super low cost around the world... then I hosted a couple of times, and realized just how amazing this whole thing was.
You get to meet people from all over the world and share with them your time, your house and your experiences: that's something you really can't pay for!
I got to know some really interesting people through Couchsurfing, and all that while travelling and seeing new places, which is really great if you think about it!

I would like to be able to host, but as I am currently living with my family I can't really... however, I am open to the situation changing in the future!

Interests

Travelling, of course.
Politics, a lot. Love politics. Can talk about it for hours, try me.
Dancing: Swing and Blues, but I would like to learn Ballroom and some Latin, anything that gets me moving to nice music, really.

My favourite pastime since I have been adopted by the UK probably has to be going to the pub with my friends for some nice pints (craft ales). I'm boring like that. But I also enjoy travelling around Northumberland in the weekend, visiting castles, driving places, walking among the sheep by the coast.

Arts & Culture: always. I was born in Florence, so I have been breathing history, art and beauty for my whole life. I enjoy going to galleries, museums and exhibitions, and taking note of architectural beauty.

Over time, my interests have stretched quite far from Jane Austen&Cats to encompass various things, making me a fairly well-rounded person (I usually know what other people talk about, even if it's not directly relevant to my interests). Unfortunately, I have never been attracted to sports. But, you never know.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I particularly like jazz, blues and old time soul, because I was born in the wrong era, or I am actually secretly 75, whatever fits best. I don't particularly dislike pop music and obviously like classic rock. I probably have the least edgy, most predictable taste in music.
Movies & TV shows: many different genres, I'd watch anything that is not Sci-fi or Fantasy, although most of my friends would probably force me to. I love good TV, and I'd watch anything from a comedy to a drama through zombie apocalypses and murders. No, I have still not seen Stranger Things.
Books & Lit: I used to be a great reader, now not so much, but I still have plenty of opinions about the books that I have read, and a really long reading list for future quiet times.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From the Bund in Shanghai to Yao villages in Guangxi to Manhattan, or Paris, or a music festival in Kowloon to every sunset I've enjoyed in my wonderful hometown... I have seen some pretty amazing things.

Now, done, that's a different matter. Define amazing...?

Teach, Learn, Share

I talk a lot, and enjoy discussing a variety of different topics. Ask me anything you want to know about Italy, the UK, politics of either, the history of both, the places where I have been, the movies that I have seen and books I have read, and we'll have an excellent time talking about it all.
I will also ask you all of the above, and more!

And also, let's create a network. Too many smart, educated people are unemployed, or under-employed in dead-end jobs. I don't think this is meant to happen, so let's find a cure together, shall we?

What I Can Share with Hosts

Food! Chocolate, and wine, I have good taste in both. And beer. Anything to drink, really.

I make decent breakfasts and if coerced, I can make dinner too.

Conversations, all the conversations.
