ABOUT ME

I've recently moved to Beijing and i'm in the process of discovering this city. Previously i spent 2 years working and living in Hangzhou.
i love travelling, experiencing new things, getting to know different people and culture. Living here for the past 1+ year has given me a whole new perspective on China - very insightful,interesting, at times challenging and definitely enlightening.

i'm pretty energetic most times - i enjoy swimming, hiking, organising outdoor trips or exploring new routes. I get pretty restless if i don't get my regular fix of mountains and i get bored with people who stay at home and watch telly all day. i also like dancing!

Currently i'm trying to cultivate a passion for running (i say "trying" because even though i managed to complete a 21k last year, i still can't say its my favourite sport - but the runner's high IS infectious!)

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop learning, never stop living!
To live through life without any regrets and be true to yourself.
AND, I believe that everyone has the capacity to do some good, to be generous and earn some karma points for their soul!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been hosted by some awesome people during my backpacking trip to Europe and they impressed me with their openness, trust and generosity to a stranger. So now i try to pass on the good karma by hosting - i've met some nice people too while hosting in Singapore and Hangzhou.

Books - milan kundera, haruki murakami. one hundred years of solitude. Politics, history, travel-related.

Music - tosca, thievery corporation, rachmaninov, chopin, nick warren, groove armada etc. it all depends on my mood.

Movies - some of my favourites "Life is beautiful", "Mar adentro", "The Pianist", "Charlie & the Chocolate factory", "Cinema Paradiso" etc..

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Loads - magnificent snow mountains, cascading waterfalls, beautiful sunsets, or lightning bolts across a dark sky.. Recently i witnessed lightning bolts racing across the west lake (towards me). We ran for cover just in time before we got completely drenched. About 10 minutes later, the tree we previously had been drinking under had toppled. pretty amazing huh?

want to take better photos, improve my Spanish so i can travel to Latin America next.
want to be a better person (just not through self-help books please).
As for teaching.. hmmm lets see.. If you can't speak chinese, i can probably teach you a few phrases to survive in China, or share travel information about the places i have travelled to.
i make a mean curry (well, nobody has complained thus far) so if you like spice, head over this way.
otherwise, i'm rather lacking in the talent department!!
