About Me

Hello I'm Hui Yi! I'm new to couchsurfing and i'm really hoping my first experience would be a great one for both the host and for me (:

Currently in the 4th year of university studying medicine~

Sorry i don't have any references but I am not a dubious character, I promise! (if that helps)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get to know locals in the countries I visit~ I believe that apart from gorgeous landscapes and history, getting to know the people in a country is essential to complete a travel experience. I regrettably haven't really done that in all my travels so far so I'm really looking forward to starting this journey on couch surfing (:

Of course i love the wealth of knowledge that the locals have about their country that I can't find off the internet, especially on places to get cheap and good food/drinks~

Also looking forward to making new friends and having fun!!

Sorry i'm still a student so i can't really host :/ but i'll def do it when i get my own place!

Interests

Cycling,
volleyball(though i haven't played in a really long time),
singing in the shower,
playing the guitar sometimes though i'm stuck with playing chords.
Recently started on yoga but still can't touch my toes properly
water sports like banana boating, kayaking casually, have yet to try jet skiing.
Baking but i've not done it for q awhile :/
exploring

I love nature and gorgeous landscapes and i really really want to see the northern/southern lights. I absolutely love stargazing and how the mountains look pre-dawn. The sea is pretty amazing too but more so when you're on the beach and not on the water. the giant waves get pretty daunting at times. (though i'm still looking forward to learning how to surf and dive!) I love snowflakes too

I love dogs and would love to own one but unfortunately do not >:
I recently got a new camera for my travels because I really really want to take photos of the stars at night and hopefully the auroras (be it australis or borealis) though i also believe that the vastness and beauty of the night sky should be appreciated without looking through your viewfinder, a few photos wont hurt (: It's also my first camera with interchangeable lenses so i've been looking forward to taking gorgeous photos but my skills (or lack thereof) definitely need a lot of working on.

I love how the sky reminds me of how small we are in the universe and how little we know about the world beyond Earth.

I LOVE FROZEN YOGURT AND GELATO

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Pop, acoustic, Ed Sheeran, Ingrid Michaelson, Howie Day, Goo Goo Dolls, James Morrison, Jason Mraz, Passenger, One Republic, Sara Bareilles etc. (very varied except no metal please)
Also like to watch musicals: really want to watch lion king next!

BOOKS: Tuesdays with Morrie

MOVIES:

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dog sledding in kiruna!! and also visiting the ice hotel there~ IT WAS AMAZING but it was a pity I didn't manage to see the northern lights the night I went searching for it, but i guess it was pretty cool that my hair froze during the search~

AND ALSO, watching the sunset from our caldera in santorini and literally watching the dark blanket the sky from behind me. A gorgeous sunset ending with a sky full of stars.

Seeing shooting stars in Taiwan and have my boyfriend tell me that they were just planes... (he was wrong)

Overseas service trip to Laos where we attempted to build an eco-garden for the school and also build a nursery at the organic farm but i mostly ended up plucking weeds.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn more about the local culture and also learn to be more trusting and spontaneous as I am a pretty cautious traveller who is trying to step out of my comfort zone.

Learn about the best stargazing spots in every country as stargazing is not an easy task in Singapore with our bright city lights

I would also like to learn about people's thoughts about life and their philosophies, learn about meditation and buddhism if possible. I sadly do not know much about my religion but i would really love to learn about it.

I can teach you how great mcdonalds' vanilla cone tastes with their fries.
I can share knowledge about the human anatomy and physiology??

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you about Singapore! And definitely will try to bring along some local stuff if my luggage permits D:

I promise to clean up after myself and will be glad to help out around the house!
