About Me

CURRENT MISSION

experience New Zealand without getting bankrupt...

ABOUT ME

I'm a friendly German girl very close to nature. I love and respect other animals and therefor I am a vegetarian. I like to avoid the waste of energy and water and don't smoke. Thus trying to do my small daily part to protect our environment.
I'm highly interested in our earth's different cultures, countries, ways of life, landscapes, wildlife etc..
After passing my A-levels (Biology, Geography, Maths and German) in 2010, I decided to postpone my study and travel through New Zealand and maybe Australia first. I will stay in NZ for at least 10 months, but I don't know yet, if I'll go home then or continue traveling. If I've had enough of traveling, I'd like to study medicine in the USA. If not, I'll continue my working holiday in Australia.
My home is a village in northern Germany, where I live with my parents and my younger sister (who are probably missing me right now because I can't cook for them anymore...). My hobbies are Karate, biking, hiking, reading, watching good movies (with my sister or my friends), cooking, baking, and taking care of our garden, my cactuses, my father's aquarium and my sister's rabbit.

PHILOSOPHY

I like following saying: "And I stood in chaos. And a voice told me: 'Be happy and smile, worse could have happened!' And I was happy and smiled. And worse happened" (I hope my translation from German is not too bad...)
Actually, I'm not as pessimistic as I might seem by that. I try to always see the bright side of life and if there is any sense to life at all, in my opinion it's to enjoy it while you can, because it is the only one you've got. But still, one shouldn't forget the responsibility we all share to maintain the possibility to live as good (or even better) a life as we do for following generations. So: Enjoy the present but plan for the future.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm traveling at the moment, so I can't accomodate anyone or show my hometown. Right now, I'm just surfing, but I'd be glad to tell hosts about my country if they are interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, I've just started traveling, so I havn't got any CS experience yet.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: classical (esp. Tschaikowski and Bartok) and film music
Movies: mostly action and thriller, but I like a few others, too... favourites: Lord of the Rings, The Bourne Trilogy, Oceans Eleven, Collateral, The devil's own, The Last Samurai
Books: I read about 3 to 4 books a week, mostly fantasy. Best authors: Terry Pratchett, Walter Moers, Jonathan Stroud. Reading as much as I do, it is hard to name a favourite book, but if I had to, I'd probably choose "Rumo" by Walter Moers.
