About Me
CURRENT MISSION
get into med school!
ABOUT ME
I grew up in Altoona, Iowa spending the summers with my mother's family in La Coruña, Spain. I received my B.A. from Colorado College and am now doing a post-bac to enter medical school. It consumes a lot of my time but when I'm not studying I love to go for bike rides with my friends to local bars and have people over to my place. Eventually my dream is to travel the world by sea, working for a few years and saving up and then setting sail. A mix of stability and adventure.
PHILOSOPHY
Don't judge too harshly or too quickly. Empathy is a skill many lack and too few care to cultivate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I like to think that most people are kind, caring individuals. My experiences with the couch surfing network have yet to prove me wrong. Couch surfing reaffirms my faith in the goodness of people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I lived in Salamanca, Spain during college and hosted a number of people traveling through wanting to see the city. I met some good friends and good people along the way. I tell everyone I know about couch surfing and what a positive experience it's been for me. It's been such a thrill getting to meet so many interesting, diverse individuals whom share a common thirst for cultural understanding and immersion. On more than one occasion I've been moved to tears by the kindness and generosity shown to me of perfect strangers. I strongly believe in Gandhi's adage- "be the change you wish to see in the world" -and believe that couch surfing encourages those subtle understandings between people that make our world a more tolerant and understanding place in which to live.
Interests
Musical instruments and the people who play them, travel of course, bright hair, open expanses with lots of green, aikido, gardening, sailing, art history, taffeta party dresses, driving at night in the city. And bikes!

Music, Movies, and Books
How to Sail Around the World, Hal Roth. Currently mastering the skills...
I'm also eagerly awaiting George Martin's 6th book in the Game of Thrones series.
I'm really getting into more Brazilian music lately, but I've always been more of a Tom Petty/classic rock fan. I have a weakness for techno/dance pop.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once climbed to the top of a snow covered volcano in Pucón, Chile and peered into the smoking crater. It was exhilarating.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to get better at sewing. And I'm always up for travel advice and information about festivals and going ons.
As for what I could teach you...I play the harp if you've ever wanted some basics, and I make a mean vegetarian lasagna that's a snap to put together.
