About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Enjoy the summer before my PhD starts

ABOUT ME

I try not to take myself or life too seriously.

Living in London for the past 4 years has made me appreciate how valuable learning another language can be, so I took it upon myself to learn Spanish last year and I've been building up confidence ever since.

PHILOSOPHY

A true gentleman knows how to play the accordion but chooses not to in public.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have both surfed and hosted. I'd love to host more but my current home is unsuitable - I'm a lodger in a lady's house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in Spain for 2 weeks - I spent a total of 3 nights out of 14 in hostels. The rest was with great friendly people. What fun!
Now I'm back in London I'm happy to share the same kindness that I was shown in Spain.

Hace dos veranos fuí a España. Me encantó viajar.

Interests

I've taken classes in flamenco and samba dancing (loved it), courses in meditation (not so much) and living in London means I've tried a lot of strange food (that can be hit and miss). I love to try new things and meet new people.

I enjoy dressing up, both dressing fancily (mmmm, blazers) and fancy dress.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have very broad musical tastes.
I collect old funk and soul records in charity shops, Stax, Motown, etc. However, in terms of pure musical inventiveness for pop music, the 1980s is the decade that keeps on giving.
I've played in several bands, from serious indie bands to no so serious experimental bands to downright pisstaking tribute bands (The Shite Wipes, anyone?) I love performing, rehearsing and recording but I've not done so much since University. The itch comes back occasionally.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The scenery and tranquility around the mountains in Catalunya.
Holding a human brain (Neuroscience is an amazing subject).
Being able to conduct my own research in Germany
Immersing myself in Spain.

Being in Hamburg after Germany won the quarter-finals of the Euro 2012 - absolute madness, shame about the semis.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a master's degree in Neuroscience so we can get drunk and talk about the brain!

In my experience, the task you have to do will always expand to the amount of time you have to do it in.

Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Spain
