About Me

Hi, my name is Hung and I am an adventure enthusiast/plant parent/urban planner/photographer.

I am happily living in Adams Morgan in Washington, D.C. where I work as an environmental planner. What is an environmental planner you ask? Well, I conduct research to make sure that natural resources like rivers, trees, and historical structures that are within impact zones of road construction are accounted for and receive necessary protection or mitigation under U.S. law.

In my downtime, I like to catch up with friends at bars, try new foods, explore and photograph my city (analog and digital), and meet new people from all walks of life!

It cannot be overstated that I love to run. I have been doing so pretty consistently since the age of 14 (almost 10 years wow!). I enjoy hitting up the trails at Rock Creek Park in DC and the C&O Canal trails as well as the W&OD. I rarely race these days but when I do, I go big racing mostly half-marathons to 50k ultramarathons.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet a wide range of people during my travel and I have heard good things about couch surfing from friends who have used the platform. I heard it is the best way to immerse yourself in a foreign place.

In November through December, I will be journeying to Nepal. first venturing into Kathmandu where I will spend a day before starting a multi-day trek to catch some of the beautiful scenery that this country's well known for. Afterwards, I will return to Kathmandu for a night before flying out to Bangkok, Thailand. I will be in Bangkok for roughly 48 hours. You bet I will make good use of that time to see, photograph, eat and take in as much as I can.

- November 17th-18th, 2019 - Kathmandu, Nepal

- November 26th, 2019 - Kathmandu, Nepal

- November 27-29th - Bangkok, Thailand

If you are living in these cities and are available to host me during these dates, I would be very grateful.

Interests

I enjoy photography. In other words, I love it so much that I collect photobooks, geek over composition and lighting and welcome any and all discussions relating to the art of photography.

I love exploring foreign cities and traveling to places I have only heard of from people and read in books. I live for new experiences spent with great company.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ran an ultramarathon (32 miles) in the dead of winter |

My waterbottle froze halfway through the race

I had to stop at an aid station to wick away my frozen sweat icicles from my chin

If anything, the experience of suffering throughout the race turned the cups of instant ramen noodles served at each aid stations into some of the best I've ever had.
