Overview
About Me
My name is Hunter, I am a 19 year old Australian from Canberra and I am exploring Europe alone. In Australia I am working as a casual bartender and will be attending university for a degree in Arts in International Studies next February. My native tongue is English however I do also speak very basic German. My hobbies vary quite drastically, from exploring museums, long mountain hikes, road trips, basic photography, as well as history, linguistics, and vexillology. I love aircraft, dogs, hot days, cold nights, and sleeping under the stars. I also have a 6 year old German Shepard back in Australia called Karma who is absolutely adorable.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am on couch surfing because it was recommended to me by a friend that I met while traveling not long ago. I am travelling alone before I get stuck into uni and on a tight budget. Additionally I would like to get to see where I go from a more authentic and “real” perspective rather than the generic postcard tourist.
Interests
My interests as mentioned before are very varied. I am interested in vexillology (flags), etymology (history of words), linguistics, beer, history and military history, hiking, writing, travelling, aircraft and aviation, and photography.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste in music is very all over the place. For example in my current play list I have Bollywood hits, pirate heavy metal, hip hop, techno, country, and lofi. I do however listen to quite a lot of Australia rap. My movie education is quite basic (as I am told by most of my friends constantly). My favourite films are Love Actually, Venom, Swiss Army Man, the Siege of Jadotsville, and Up. I spent quite a lot of my childhood reading however the extent was not exactly common literature. Mostly military history books by authors such as Peter Fitzsimmons and Charles Bean. My favourite non-reference book is the Book Thief.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have done quite a few amazing things in my life but probably the most exciting and unique thing I have done is lived in a remote aboriginal community in far north Australia. I spent 3 months helping locals herd cattle, fish for the town, and trap and relocate salt water crocodiles.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open to learning anything. Wether it’s sports, cooking, language, anything. Knowledge is wealth and fuels me. Any tid bit of family history, cool facts, locals insight into an event, the list goes on. Practical lessons are the most welcome as I will definitely use it in my life and will make me a better person.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Wether my host would like to learn anything from my fields of interest or share an experience I am up up for it. Nothing makes me happier than ranting about something I am passionate about over a beer.
