Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
finish my phd!
ABOUT ME
an unfocused ambition has always had me straddling various projects.
perpetual student: tackling a phd in geography, studying climate change+agriculture+farm needs in Hawaii.
myriad consultancies: city and rural planning, agricultural development, permaculture design
non-profit factotum: working to revive municipal socialism through leveraging conservation
data nerd, geospatial
supersistence, permaculture, talking philosophy with a drink in my hand.
i work with students in hawaii on gardening and sustainability projects, i work with communities internationally towards sustainable development.
i work to provide for all of my own needs (and some wants) which has lead to a diversity of experiences ranging from avid gardening to moonshining and a bunch more in between.
PHILOSOPHY
accept everything except everything
measure life by tears of joy

Music, Movies, and Books
moving pictures: film noir is a favorite genre. the third man, a touch of evil, etc. beyond that, charlie kaufman always makes me smile.
moving music: i aim to new playlist every month (a diary of sorts) and am happy to share them. recent ones included kadjha bonet, kamasi washington, broken social scene, little dragon, khruangbin, and more.
moving words: cloud atlas, the one straw revolution, hard boiled wonderland and the end of the world. see also: tsundoku
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
the world is a bountiful place:
night diving for lobster in vanuatu.
harvesting taro streamside in hawaii.
full moon gazing over to the eiffel tower in paris.
hidden pools in the sacred valley of peru.
toasting arak to desert sunsets in jordan.
Teach, Learn, Share
teach: spent my 20s living as close to the land as I could, it learned me a few skills: waste systems, water systems, gardening, compostery, agroforestry, disaster prep/response. my 30s, thus far, appears to be more focused on policy, urban planning, research, and using data to tell stories.
learn: all the languages i can (this now includes coding langauges), even if it is just a few words..
share: ideas, drinks, recipes, work, laughter
