我做过的一件不可思议的事情

A guy named Bruno once helped me in Le Mans, France.
It was a night in January , cold, wet & foggy.
My train had gotten me there a few minutes after the connection train had left the station. It was 1130 at night and next train to La Rochelle was scheduled at 545 am.
With a few hours to spare I warmed up in a hotel bar across the street.
it was cozy and warm, the people there were friendly and kind. I was offered some food and something to drink. of course they also offered a room for the night.
Given that it would have been only a handful of hours of sleep, i decided to keep my money and planned on spending the night in the train station.
I ate some, drank some tee, declined the room and left the bar when they closed at around 1 . Through the cold rain, I hurried across the street to the station and found its doors locked. With no place to go I wondered around , trying to stay warm, mostly hiding in a telephone booth to stay somewhat dry.
After an hour or so, I saw a guy slowly walking through the rain . passing the lit spaces under street lights he came closer . he noticed me in my booth when he was right next to me. he mustered me with my bag-pack on and asked some questions.
I know no French but soon figured out that this stranger was asking me to come along with him.
freezing, without any options, and unable to communicate very much i gratefully trotted along through the dark.
We introduced our selfs and soon came to his house. we climbed a few stairs and set foot in his little kingdom.
Bruno offered me a spot on his couch , put some wood in the fire and the kettle on the stove.
although it felt a bit weired, not to be able to talk, i figured me being cold, wet, alone and lost in the dark spoke for itself as much his kind gesture spoke for him.
we drank tea and tried to translate a few single words in a dictionary for a while before turning on his old school Black&white TV , which Bruno had to hit with his fist to get a picture. It was great sitting there, watching Mickey Mouse in French and without color, drinking our tee, being safe and warm.
I soon fell asleep on his warm and cozy couch.

At the time I was young and unexperienced, i hadnt done any traveling abroad and never been in a pickle like this. The help Bruno had offered so naturally , his humble kindness still makes me smile. traveling is great and over the years i have had the pleasure to follow Bruno's example and help other people. it always feels great to meet travelers and to be able to help.
i love it. its fun to try to talk and understand without words . fun to think back about a new connection with someone , somewhere .
it is good to know that out there are lots and lots of good and helpful people.
and its fun to watch Mickey Mouse speak French.
