About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to get out into this world and visit places I can only dream of now.

ABOUT ME

I am a young traveler from the US eastern seaboard, born and raised on a farm in northern Virginia. I am currently living in Boston, Massachusetts pursuing a combined BA/MA degree in Environmental Policy. While I consider myself much more of an academic than a farmer, farming and the country have always been a part of my life. My mother has been an employee working with United Airlines for several years, as a result, I have spent a lot of time traveling as I've grown up. Many of my visits thus far have been to see friends and travel to new places. This network offers the perfect avenue to explore the world and meet wonderful people who share a similar interest and faith in humanity. Ali, my girlfriend, is a graduate of Boston University who studied Art History and Cultural Anthropology. She is passionate about healthy lifestyles, natural food and cooking. She is also an adept knitter and crocheter.

I'm a big fan of meeting new people and going to new places (just like everybody else?) i'm the kind of person who might just walk out of a party and go on a long walk... i dunno if that means anything.

I love the smell of the ocean, the warmth of the sun, the taste of beer, different languages, munich, skateboarding, running, asian foods, new foods, vegetarians, pot-lucks, DIY music, folk, open mic nights, museums, port cities, and that feeling when your airplane takes off.

PHILOSOPHY

I am extremely involved in the global sustainability movement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I am somewhat new to CS my main goal in participating is to travel and understand different cultures and how the world works in different nations. I want to see the world and let people know what my world (and the places i've been to) are like in comparison; helping people to appreciate things that they take for granted or possibly showing them that there is a another world out there for them to tap into.

While I hope to host in the future, I can only surf for now.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept on a lot of couches in the States, mostly in Richmond Va.

I've stayed with alot of people around the world, not always on couches though.

I've been to England, Scotland, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Italy, the Bahamas, South Korea, and Venezuela. And plenty of states in the US.

Music, Movies, and Books

The movie list goes on and on, Shawshenk Redemption (of course), Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys, Whale Rider, Junebug, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Edukators, City of God, Rushmore, Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind (overrated, but still good), Snatch, Lock Stock, and two Smoking Barrels, Layer Cake, Hard Candy, The Squid and the Whale, Short Bus, SLC Punk, Run Lola Run

As far as books go I'm kind of at a loss.
I really like Wordsworth's stuff, of course Harry Potter, Kite Runner.., The Great Gatsby... Into the Wild (awesome), All quiet on the Western Front.
Im honestly embarrassed about how little I voluntarily read.

Music: I listen to alot of punkish/folk/americana and then some indie stuff on the side
Favorite bands would be Against Me! (old stuff), The Clash, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Defiance Ohio, Gaslight Anthem, The Loved Ones, Fake Problems, Paul Baribeau.
... then the indie stuff: Matt and Kim, Architecture in Helsinki,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

At age 17 i did a solo Eurotrip for 40 days and 40 nights (coincidental) and stayed in hostels and with friends from boarding school and family.

I've swam with sharks at age 16 in the Bahamas.

Saw twin water tornados one time too.
