About Me

My Name is Husain, but everyone calls me Naqi. I’m from Bahrain, born in 95. I am a Psychology Major Student; however, I’m interested in far more things than just my major.

How would I describe myself?
Well I like conversations that steep my soul, I might even skip small talks and start talking about the questions we are all trying to figure out. Trying to ''really'' get to know someone, talking about our journeys in Life, challenges we are going through.
I enjoy intimate, vulnerable conversations (with a teapot aside, that is very important!). Basically sharing with courage how you simply are. I think my interest in Humanities, Art, and Literature makes me able to tolerate many point of views and makes friends fast. I just love listening talking about their feelings and their "actual" lives.

What are you most proud of?

I’m proud of my companion, kindness, and strong character. I thought at first that I am cursed by being able to see the Truth from everybody’s perspective and then believing it, but now I know I can mix well with people as long as they are willing to be Vulnerable too.

Who’s your Idols
Elizabeth Gilbert, Gary Vaynerchuk, Dr. Jordan Peterson, Dr. Brene Brown, Martin Luther King Jr, Mohammed Ali, Malcom X.

What is your favorite Quote?
-“We must risk delight. We can do without pleasure,
but not delight. Not enjoyment. We must have
the stubbornness to accept our gladness in the ruthless
furnace of this world.”

Jake Gilbert

-“The meeting of two personalities is like the contact of two chemical substances: if there is any reaction, both are transformed.”

Carl Jung

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wandered in the off-land of another Kingdom, kinda like Simba in the Lion King. Living therefore on the edge of two Kingdoms, the far boundaries of two cultures.

Teach, Learn, Share

How Middle Eastern and Western cultures differ in general, but more specifically the linguistic implications, how making friendships is different, the question: Why making friendships is hard in the west and everyone having their guard up and always on the defence. How collectivistic cultures socialize and how easy for them to make intimate friendships. Psychology narratives, personality theories. The psychological implications of living in complex societies like here in the west, bureaucracy. The Arabic, German languages. What it is like to be a cultural in-betweener.
I would like to learn more about western cultures, making american friends, feel integrated in this new society and grow out of this new friendships. Watch movies together, have coffee, and talk about things that matter or sometimes just say fuck it and go hiking or doing something outdoor.
