About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Meet more people, new people, help travellers with somewhere to stay
ABOUT ME
I am an atheist, rationalist, omniverous, openminded, liberal, left leaning, eclectic interests, busy, a muddler, very tolerant of diversity as long as it is tolerant of me & others, generaly good humoured, dry sense of humour (Larsenesque) Afterthought BTW: I have been told that the descriptions "openminded, liberal" can have 'sexual' connotations in some cultures. That is not what is implied in the above description. Openminded refers to being able to listen to and digest and possibly accept a very wide range of beliefs ideas and values. Liberal refers to the idea that anyone should be able to do whatever they like as long as it doesn't hurt other people.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short, and when you are gone you are gone, living on only in memories of others.
Priority => Service to humankind, rather than hedonism, fun is great but as a spinoff of other aims and activities.
True friends are very rare and to be cherished
Image is given too much emphasis in our society
Think own thoughts, avoid fads, fanaticism, and opiates of the masses.
Liberalism...live and let live
Fight evil, and pseudo morality where we find it
One man's religion is another man's belly laugh.
Family important.
Evidence needed to support action
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have hosted five couchsurfers Dec 2007 - May 2008. In 2006 completed my first ever trip to Europe, and would have loved having contacts and couches to sleep on (For economical reasons but also for local knowledge and for friendship). Am visiting Germany-Austria in June-July 2008 and would love to meet a friendly local or two to get another perspective on the world, and for some local guiding.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Usually have only stayed with friends or hotels or backpackers when away anywhere, but have recently experienced my first Couch surfing with Susanne from Mainz - Germany. Very pleasant/successful. Also thanks to the Kuster's from Seesen and their relatives near Dresden. Also Annette from Berlin - wished I could have stayed longer.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: sadly I get no time to read fiction
Music: eclectic, pop,70s, romantic, stirring, some classical, tend not to like C&W, jazz and loathe rap and bip bop or whatever it is called
Movies: thoughtful movies, historcal, war epics, period dramas, soppy love stories, James Bond. As with music, it depends on the mood.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
hmmm... I have been amazed by many things but too subtle to explain or describe here
Probably witnessing birth is pretty amazing, but death is amazing (amazing in its literal sense) more so...
Teach, Learn, Share
rationality and skepticism: important in a media controlled newage world
