ABOUT ME
We (me Flaviu and my wife Lidia) had lived in Scotland for some years but since 2010 we've been living a life of "modern hermits" :) in the middle of the nature on the top of Romanian mountains. Every year we travel for 2-3 months doing SCUBA diving (I'm a professional SSI divemaster) and exploring new cultures and different ways of living, bringing a little sunshine in the hearths of all the persons we meet on our way.

In 2018 we traveled for one year all around SE Asia... In 2020 we will travel for 5 months in Israel, Jordan and Egypt and we would just love to meet you, have a chat about Life and Reality, balance, peacefulness, mind and perception, traveling and exploring, SCUBA diving, arts and crafts, gardening and creativity! We can also volunteer or give you a hand with your projects or even pay something in exchange for surfing your couch for longer periods than you normally host. We hosted a lot and we know that receiving something in exchange for kindness is always nice, so we always try to enrich somehow the life of our hosts so that they will have nice memories about us!

We mostly host on couchsurfing outside the cold season - we have a small summer house (2 places) made especially for couchsurfers which can have an electric heater during wintertime. However, if we don't have paying guests , you may get ONE FREE night sleep in the main guest bedroom at our cottage https://www.facebook.com/tihna.crisului/ even during wintertime... So be sure you write an outstanding request in order to get the main guest bedroom!

Activities from June - Octomber

Location: Cris 101, Blajeni village, Hunedoara, Romania, the valley of White Cris between the mountains Vulcan and Stramba

In the warm season we encourage short visits up to 3 days for 2 couchsurfers and when we are at home we may accept couchsurfers also during wintertime.

Here are specific seasonal activities you can help with, while visiting us in the mountains (case in which accommodation and meals are free of charge, you will assist us with light seasonal work to get a glimpse of living in the nature).

- Splitting logs firewood
- recovering and repairing some old tools inherited from the previous owner
- tidying up the side rooms of the shed
- gardening
- compounding the organic compost
- Cleaning the orchard and grassland: gathering fallen tree branches, cutting unwanted baby trees, thorns etc ... , leveling anthills, tidying up garden, etc. ..
- cutting the hay
- picking mushrooms, blackberries, blueberries and medicinal herbs
- watering the vegetables
- harvesting: vegetables, cherries, grapes, apples, plums, pears, nuts
- making jams and syrups, juices
- cooking and conserving vegetables (making "zacusca")

- Exploring the area, hiking (Pisoaia waterfall, Peacks of Stramba and Vulcan, Iancu's cave, Stramba's cave, visits at the local blacksmith or sculptor, milking the neighbors cows and more...)
- Lazertag games (4 guns available)

We are on couchsurfing because we believe in freedom of traveling and we dream at a world without borders and visas, a world in which you are free to travel and we do our best to make this reality come true!
