About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Surviving China with the help of the ridicoulous phrases in the Lonely Planet
ABOUT ME
I am Joerg. I have studied electrical engineering in Braunschweing (Germany) and worked there for three years. Though my job was very good and I enjoyed it very much, something was missing. I felt that there must be more than just going to work and spending money for things I don't really need.
Triggered by the financial crisis I decided to change my life and so I quit my job, my flat and left everything behind to go on a long journey. In January 2010 I traveled to Mumbai without an idea where to go next.
At the beginning it was difficult because in Germany I used to be very shy. But after a while in India I could open myself more and more and now I am enjoying travelling so much that I can't stop anymore. I want to see new places and to make new friends and experiences. That's why I am here.
PHILOSOPHY
Do every day something that you haven't done before or that you fear.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
When I am at home travellers will find a comfortable couch to surf in Hannoversch Muenden.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Not so much because I am very new here. During my current journey I met a lot of travellers who recommended couch surfing. So I looked on the internet and created a profile in June 2010.
Interests
Since I am here it's obvious that I like to travel. But why do I like it? It's because I want to make new experiences and to broaden my knowledge about the world, its nature and the people that live on it. I have studied cultural sciences for a while and am interested in history, science, culture, philosophie, sociology and of course in literature. I really enjoy reading books - especially classic literature (Shakespear, Herman Hesse, Tolstoi...) and fantasy (Terry Pratchett, Robert Jordan).
In addition I am really into games. I like to play board and card games of all kinds - especially chess. I still regret that I haven't bought this traditional lion and sheep board game in Kathmandu!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing temple I have ever seen is the Buddhist temple in Gyantse (Tibet). The Mandalas and Buddhist statues are awesome.
The most exciting thrill I have ever had was a Bunjee-Jump near Kathmandu. 160 meters of free fall!
