About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Sanskrit: The day you are born is the day you begin to die. Live it so.

ABOUT ME

Boho, Bobo, designer, artist, Zen unless pushed, a mind of my own but I like yours too. I am not fond of the de riguer, and I will push the boundaries, I am not adverse to risk, and im not afraid to fail. Although I would have failed the Marshmallow Test since I'm impulsive, I have an unquenchable love of anthropology, I'm ruled by Karma. I love chasing sunshine, I love conversations with the elderly, and the inquisitiveness of the young...I love pursuing happiness and I would never get in the way of anybody else pursuing theirs.

PHILOSOPHY

Im pretty zen about most things these days - I can be intense and passionate but I'm lighthearted and I look for joy where its hard to be found.

We're here to evolve beyond the human condition.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Fairly new and not many include DSM as their destination, but I have had drinks and I haven't been disappointed yet.

Interests

Swimming, biking, 5ks, white water kayak, books, ping pong, skiing, cinema, museums, games.....Design of all disciplines, (Mid century and post modern my fave) and art museums (I studied art) conversation that strays from the mundane, I enjoy socializing and being alone--other people challenging my thoughts is a big turn on.........I detest cynicism, philistinism, punctuation and flat beer.

Music, Movies, and Books

Latin Jazz and accoustic Guitar is what I'd listen to if I had only one choice----the Gypsy Kings LA Quartet Tommy Emmanuel Calexico........and I do have a dysfynctional love of the pop king Elton John but most of my tastes do not run the mainstream. I have been to many music festivals from Wakarusa to Lollapolooza to Bluegrass festivals around the country.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A beach won't impress me for more than a day or two. Most of my travels have been in the states but all over, I love Toronto. Cali is a favorite. My vacations usually include adventure. I am not risk adverse. ;) I loved roaming new cities to smell see and taste, Boston - an amazing small city but big in sheer presence.

Teach, Learn, Share

The ego is a huge barrier to many things. One of my favorite cats was Shakespeare "Nothing is good or bad but thinking that makes it so."

Im a big fan of Walt Whitman and here's a traveler's poem:
"Afoot and light-hearted I take to the open road.
Healthy, free, the world before me.
The long brown path before me leading me wherever I choose.
Henceforth, I ask not good fortune, I myself am good fortune.
Henceforth, I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing."
— Walt Whitman (Songs for the Open Road: Poems of Travel and Adventure)

"Happiness not in another place, but this place...not for another hour, but this hour."
— Walt Whitman (Leaves of Grass)
