About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my greatest pleasures in life is picking up hitch hikers and if they're looking for it, giving them a home for the night. I love meeting new people and hearing their stories and Couchsurfing seems like a perfect way to do more of all of that.
I'm not in a position to host at the moment, but if you're visiting the Uists, I'd be happy to show you some of my favourite spots and join you on some walks. Hopefully it won't be too long before we've got a croft to show you round and with any luck we plan to build our own house. Feel free to come help build it and get first dibs on a spare bed once it's done!
Interests
Over dinner or a drink you can easily get me talking about: Community based sustainable living. Inventive ways to share (Streetbank, Kiva and of course couchsurfing for example) Effective altruism. Small scale food production.
I also love a good tabletop game, and will happily while away hours playing Settlers of Catan, Boggle, Magic the Gathering, or even better something new you teach me!

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm very open minded in what I watch read and listen to, but the recent highlights would be. Public Service Broadcasting (music), Her (film), Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality (book) and Twin Peaks (TV)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Cycling the French coast to coast was quite the experience, but hopefully I'll top that at some point.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to do some collaborative cooking in my travels. I'll show you some of the recipes I grew up with and you can do the same!
I'm also always keen to learn new skills, so if you've got a project that could use a second set of hands, show me what to do and I'll be a willing helper.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'll happily treat anyone willing to offer me shelter to a dinner on me. Show me your favourite restaurant, or as above, I can cook something for you.
