About Me

My name is Iain, I'm a student at St-Andrews university in Scotland studying sustainable development :) I love to travel, meet new people and try new things! :) If you are planning a visit to Scotland then let me know!

I work as a bartender in a cocktail bar in St-Andrews called The Adamson. I went in for drinks when I was a first year around three years ago and completely fell in love with the practice of mixology and I really enjoy coming up with new drinks and getting the chance to meet a lot of interesting people who come into the bar.

I'm a big fan of cooking as well. I never really mastered the idea of the 'student diet' as despite being a poor student the one thing I am generally happy to spend money on is food.

I like to sing but I'm pretty average haha. Get a few beers in me and you'll see for yourself.

I try to keep fit. Even when travelling I always have my running shoes with me :)

Love a night out! Feel like i'm gradually getting bored of the 'club' kinda night out and would much rather a pub crawl and be able to have a conversation.

Not sure what else to say really but feel free to shoot me any questions! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and meet new people and this seems like a great way to do it! I've done a fair bit of travelling (mostly in Europe) and although touristy stuff can be fun I have always found the best memories come from the unexpected encounters and experiences. I am fascinated with hearing about other peoples lives and seeing how they live wherever that may be :) I want to do a lot more travelling and meet the people and find the hidden gems of each place and this seems like a great way to do that!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've got a pretty varied music taste. Not sure there's a specific genre I like more than another. I'm a big George Ezra fan and I like sort of folky kind of music I guess :) Something you can sing along with rather than just jump up and down to.

I'm a big reader and absolutely love going to the cinema. One of my favorite books is Life of Pi (also a great movie) but the top movies have to be no country for old men, the bucket list, fight club....to be honest the list is endless. Could chat about movies forever haha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started my own cocktail bartender for hire business here in St-Andrews and it's been great :) It helps me to fund myself at uni and it combines some of my favorite things - making cocktails, meeting people, going to parties - it's a pretty good gig.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not 100% sure I know what this questions asking me haha.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well if you like good drinks and good food then I'm your guy haha. I like to think I'm very easy going and up for a laugh so I guess I'd like to offer some good stories and laughs and hear some of yours :)
