My name is Ian, and I’m excited to finally be on Couchsurfing. I’m an adventurous but low maintenance traveler, and this will actually be my first time visiting a city where I don’t already know someone... which feels like the perfect reason to try this community.

I’m currently a master’s student in horticulture, and I’ll be in London this spring working with Kew Gardens as part of an exchange program. Dream opportunity! I’m really looking forward to learning, exploring the city, and meeting people along the way. I’m especially excited to see how gardening and green space show up in London, whether that’s small balconies, community gardens, or public parks.

I tend to connect with people through shared activities... whether that’s working out, exploring museums, or just going for a walk and talking. I value being intentional with how I spend time and enjoy getting to know people in a genuine, low pressure way. I am also fully prepared to adjust to British tea habits and any strong opinions about the correct way to make it.

I am a non-smoker, early riser, and both intendent and social. Happy to video call beforehand if that makes you more comfortable.

I’ve always heard great things about the community, and I’d love the chance to meet locals, share experiences, and contribute in whatever way I can.

I’d also love to get a feel for different neighborhoods; each part of London seems to have its own personality.

I care about fitness, spirituality, and taking good care of myself. I recognize that its important to have different friends for different things- I have friends for working out, for nightlife, for going to museums. I love to have a "why" with friends and connect with them on a specific activity. Being thoughtful about how friendships work has been a great pleasure in my life.
