About Me

Entering my third year of university, I decided to take some time off to get back to basics! The happiest I've ever been was when I did a solo year abroad, mostly through Europe and Australia, when I was 22.

Fairly high energy, I'm definitely on the more extroverted end of the spectrum. While I love to take time to myself to read and write in my journal, I'm at my happiest when meeting people, eating and laughing with new friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Planning a trip to Japan from January 10th to February 15th. Only 100% solid is my Tokyo portion, which will be for Feb 1st to 15th. Before that I will be snowboarding in Hakuba and Hokkaido, and after that shooting around the country with my Japanese rail pass. Travelling with a friend up until the 22nd of Jan, with arrangements taken care of till then. Really just looking for some pointers, and maybe some friends to meet on the road. If I can find a place to stay for even part of the time, that's just gravy on top!

Looking forward to observing traditional practices, learning the language as best I can and gaining perspective in where I am sure is going to be the most "different" place I can possibly imagine right now.

Music, Movies, and Books

Musically I range with anything between melodic black metal to modern hip-hop.
Pinback, The National, Pink Floyd, System of a Down, Radiohead, Tribe Called Quest, being some of my top artists.

Brave New World, 1984, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Essentially, if its a grim picture of the future - I'll read it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfing in Indonesia and snowshoeing on Lake Superior ... I've led a pretty lucky life.

I can breathe fire with corn flour and love to show people how at every opportunity!

What I Can Share with Hosts

My love of life, appreciation and desire to learn of other cultures, and a love of cooking and doing dishes for those kind enough to open their homes to me!
