Chi sono

I am not really a city dweller but enjoy visiting them. My preference is the open space, the wild environments of nature where i feel most at peace. I have a good understanding of the natural environment and wildlife. I am an experienced caver, tramper (hiker) and am keen on trying out adventures. I am practical and can do most practical tasks as I have always worked with my hands. I enjoy mountain biking, motorcycle riding, kayaking and am learning to fly. I don't follow team sports like rugby. I have a wife, 2 adult sons and a young daughter.

Musica, film e libri

I like Dire straits, U2, Eagles as examples, Like sci-fi, westerns, roman empire sort of movies, books by Wilbur Smith and Ken Follet.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

How could I limit this to one amazing thing.
I have kayaked and tramped for 10 days, in Port Pegasus at the south of Stewart Island, NZ, with my wife, Cindy, when she was 4 months pregnant with our daughter in2007.
I have climbed the western breach of Mt Kilimanjaro, slept at the top, and walk the crater rim with my eldest son who was 17 at the time in 2010.
I have slept deep inside a cave (near to home where I visit frequently), high up in chamber needing rope access, with my daughter when she was 9 at the time in 2017.
I have canoed 10 days down the Leaf River (a valley with stunted trees just below the arctic circle) northwest of Kuujjuaq in Canada with my second son when he was 21 in 2017.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I am an outdoors-man, formerly being a professional instructor in bush-craft, off track navigation, caving, abseiling, top-rope climbing, and I know a bit about plants, reforestation and landscaping so can share knowledge of this. I have traveled a number of countries and can share about these.
I am keen to learn anything I can.

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

Stories of New Zealand and other places I have traveled. My preferences when traveling overseas is to find remote villages and not tourist resorts and to see the wild life, so i can share about that.
