Overview
About Me
I am a British-born translator and naturalised Spaniard who has lived most of his adult life outside the UK, mainly in Spain but also Berlin.
Hablo español.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
If you are just looking for a free room, please don't contact me. Couschsurfing is a shared experience.
I enjoy hosting people. Many people have stayed in my home - from family and friends through to complete strangers. I like meeting people from different countries and cultures. We always share some time together, making meals, sightseeing or simply taking a stroll. I don't have much free time in the week, so I am more likely to receive guests for a few days around weekends. I am gay but don't make it the centre of my life. Couchsurfers, whether gay or straight, will enjoy staying in my guest room.
Unfortunately, I don't accept people under 30 as they have different priorities.
Interests
I have been studying photography for a few years. I also love independent and classical cinema, languages, travelling (especially Europe, Asia, South America), politics, music, design, museums, excursions ...
Music, Movies, and Books
Music: post punk/new wave, late 70s, 80s, 60s, funk and its derivatives, a little jazz and classical, ambient/downtempo, soundtracks, electronic, tango, quite eclectic really
Cinema: Italian, French; British classics, 30s-50s Hollywood, independent films, Asian (Korean, Japanese, Taiwanese, Chinese ...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Depends on what you mean by amazing.
I have moved to other countries to live several times, the first being Berlin during the Cold War when I was twenty/twenty-one without the support networks which exist today [no Erasmus :-)].
I also set up and ran a bar with a friend in Madrid in the late 90s. The bar had its own events and music programme.
Best sight and experience: clmbing the breathtaking Perito Moreno glaciar and taking in the amazing views in Tierra de Fuego in Patagonia. Visiting the Iguaçu Falls on the Argentinian-Brazilian border and riding an inflatable boat on the river below.
Teach, Learn, Share
I taught English to foreigners for many years, so I can help you improve your English. I can also show you a few vegetarian and Spanish dishes that I make.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Good conversation and a sense of humour. I'll share the domestic chores.
