About Me

Hi there

Originally from Reading, now very much an adopted son of London where I currently live (and love it there!).

About to embark on a spiritual adventure for six months around the world, as my amazing employers have allowed me the time off work. Along the way I plan to visit India, the US, China, Thailand, Vietnam and I will also be doing the El Camino de Santiago pilgrimage from France to Spain.

I also plan to do some unpaid work in my time in India and the U.S.

Apart from spirituality, I also am passionate about my ongoing continual development and discovery, and I love my history and music too. I also meditate daily.

While the six month adventure will involve a lot of spiritual development, I am definitely open to the odd party along the way!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Firstly, it is part of the adventure that I want to have! The unpredictability of it all is both exciting and a bit scary at the same time!

I have a limited budget while I'm traveling so I want to find a mix of paid for places to stay as well as some couch surfing.

Interests

In addition to what I have already listed - I love football :) I support a team called Reading, which is my hometown. I also love cinema, walking and music festivals.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Birdsong by Sebastien Faulks. Still one of most powerful reads ever. I read a fair amount of spiritual texts - mostly Indian like Swami Vivekinanda, but also things like Eckhart Tolle. I really like reading dystopian novels for some reason - 1984 being one of my favourites - and anything by Margaret Attwood. Being a music aficionado, I used to identify a lot with the character in Nick Hornby's High Fidelity, and it's the only fictional book I've ever read twice!

I love all genres of music. I can be in a heavy metal pub or at the Proms, listening to hip hop, at a drum and bass or house club night or at the London Jazz Festival. And I even love watching some of the acts on the X-Factor (but only at the raw talent stage before the live shows!).

As for TV, I watch Question Time quite a bit, the Apprentice, as well as any history programme that is on the telly. In fact, I love my history documentaries. Otherwise not much TV at all. Some of my favourite TV shows over the years include the Inbetweeners, Alan Partridge (I know all the lines), this Life (the one about the lawyers from the 90s), Sex and the City, Mad Men, the Hour.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spoken to 600 people at a peace convention in India about a conflict resolution project I am creating around the 7/7 anniversary in London.

What I Can Share with Hosts
