About Me
Hi All! Thanks for reading my profile! I've been on couchsurfing since April 11, 2015, and really enjoy it! I'm Ian, am 38, and live in Brighton, which is right outside of Boston. I love it here in the city! I'm totally blind, and have been since birth. But, big deal hopefully that doesn't matter! Please don’t underestimate me, as my blindness has not slowed me down one bit! If you haven’t met any blind people, no worries I can totally educate you about what it's like. Additionally, the only stupid question is the one that unfortunately isn’t asked! It's as simple as that! I know Boston very well. I’m very laid-back, outgoing, I’m always up for meeting new and interesting people, and for going on adventures whether locally or out of state! I enjoy showing people around the city, traveling to random places, going to coffee shops, going bar hopping, eating out, hearing live music, showing people the Perkins school for the blind which is the oldest school for the blind in the US, and living life to the fullest. If you’re in Boston and want to hang out with a cool and an outgoing new friend, hit me up! I'm also willing to get up early and hang out in the city, take a spontaneous trip, or do other spontaneous activities. I'm a free spirit so I'm pretty much up for anything that's fun! I couchsurfed once in Columbus, Ohio in the summer of 2015, and twice in Raleigh, North Carolina, once from May 13-15, 2016, and once from September 4-8, 2018. I really enjoyed these experiences, and I hope to definitely do more in the future!! A cool Boston perk is that blind people and their guide ride the public transit system, even the trains that go out to the suburbs, totally free so we can go anywhere! Additionally, if we hang out, I’ll need help while we’re out, for example it makes sense to describe what’s around, to describe the layout of places, to warn me about steps, and other stuff. I look forward to meeting you!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to try couchsurfing to meet, travel with, occasionally host, and hang out with new, out-going, and open-minded people that are passing through Boston or who enjoy traveling.
Interests
I enjoy coffee shops especially Starbuck's, bars, traveling to other big cities, restaurants, hearing live music, public transportation, amusement and water parks, the casino, staying up late, and making new friends.
- bars
- exploring cities
- public transportation
- starbuck's
- eating and ordering out
- and being spontaneous!
Music, Movies, and Books
For music, I enjoy oldies, like the Beatles, and easy listening. I don't watch movies that much, but I do enjoy Speed and Harry Potter. For books I enjoy Harry Potter, the Catcher in the Rye, and Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have not let my blindness slow me down one bit, and I travel anywhere and everywhere, and just enjoy seeing where life takes me!
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach people the public transit system, and where all of the good restaurants and bars are located throughout the Boston and the surrounding areas. I can also teach about how I most likely have a different perspective about life and the world around me.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share a great time wandering around the city, as well as taking fun and spontaneous trips. I'm also happy to show you the adaptive technology that I use on a daily basis, as well as answer any questions about blindness!
